New Vauxhall Insignia receives some mild cosmetic tweaks, safety tech improvements and new LED lights to freshen up the Skoda Superb rival
This is the updated Vauxhall Insignia. Set to make its full debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January, the second-gen model, will gain styling revisions, revised engines and a more comprehensive suite of safety systems.Even as mid-life facelifts go, the cosmetic changes to the outside of the brand’s Skoda Superb rival are subtle. The back has changed little from before – there’s some neat silver exhaust trims at the lower edge of the bumper – while the front gets a tidier bumper design with repositioned fog lights to emphasise the car’s width. The grille features extra chrome detailing which falls into line with the brand’s latest design language seen on the new Corsa.

There’s reshaped headlamps on the nose, too, and they benefit from uprated LED Matrix tech. 84 individual LED bulbs sit within each unit, and combined with a forward-facing camera, they can adjust their beam trajectory near-instantly to avoid dazzling other road users and illuminate through corners. Even though they’re more powerful than the previous units, they are also more energy-efficient – helping to reduce fuel consumption slightly when the lights are in use. The LED daytime running lights are repositioned within the units, to give the car a distinct look in gloomy weather.
