      First time poster!

My fiancée has just signed up to Motability for her daughter with myself as nominated driver. After a, quite frankly, exhaustive search we have opted for the new Vauxhall Frontera. We had many boxes to be ticked up to and including the height of my fiancées son for family trips (he’s over 6ft 5 at 14yrs!) her daughter’s comfortability issues due to her chronic pain condition and our shared daughter’s car seat. All 3 children are diagnosed autistic so sensory/physical contact issues are particularly troublesome. We tried the Dacia Jogger, not enough head room for son. Tried the Kia Sportage, head room ok but not enough hip room in rear seats for 3 people. Tried MG HS, hip room in back fine but sons head touches roof. We initially figured the Frontera was a no go as they hadn’t started building them yet so they weren’t in showrooms to go along and look at. Thankfully one of the showrooms had a show model in from Spain on display so we were able to pop along and all climb. Like the proverbial Goldilocks it was just right! Head room, check. Hip room in back, check. Comfortability, check! Only problem now is having to wait until hopefully August for it to be ready.

Anyone ever ordered a car that hasn’t been built yet? Do they keep to schedule near enough? Maybe even bring the date forward? Or (fingers crossed not) delays? Also has anyone managed to get hands on with a new Frontera when they were doing the rounds earlier in the year at reveal events.

Would welcome any insights and thanks for reading

Hi – I’m glad you have found a car that fits your family’s needs.

Please be very careful with Vauxhall as we had major issues with our current Grandland. They invited us to a VIP day to see the car as at the time there were none available to sit in. At the VIP the Vauxhall Professional Driver sales team said the car we sat in was the car we would get. It was perfect for us because I needed a fully electric adjustable driver’s seat.

We ordered at the VIP event and were told delivery would be around six months due to the unfortunate Ukrainian war situation meaning parts were delayed.  We chased the dealership and they just kept telling us they didn’t know when it would be delivered.

When we finally got a delivery date of December I found out online (On this forum) that the car’s specifications had changed but the dealership and Motability had no idea (Or so they say!) I was told by the dealership that they wouldn’t know what the spec of the car would be until it arrived on the transporter and I could make up my mind then.

It was a completely different spec with many missing features and the dealership just lied about it and then had the cheek to ask for a good review on Google!

Luckily Motability helped me get adaptations done to the car but the whole experience was a total nightmare.

I’m sure you can find the posts here as there were quite a few unhappy customers and Vauxhall customer service said they could not do anything about it. I will never use Vauxhall again but everyone has a different experience.

I hope you have a much more positive experience.

        Regards Andrew

Have you ordered the hybrid or EV, which only has 44kW battery 150 mile real world range?

Did you look at the Hyundai Tucson basically same car as Sportage but, higher roof.

We went for the hybrid. Not comfortable making the jump to electric just yet, the range to charge ratios don’t meet our needs. The Tucson is a nice car, my fiancée travelled in one for an Uber journey and very much liked it. Didn’t make the list of possibilities though due to the high AP

Fair enough, make sure you check the spec’s advertised are pressent when the car is delivered to the dealer and before entering your pin. The 1.2 engine is decent and share among stellantis group cars.

                    Online french auto sites.

I also assume LHD versions will be made first
