Hi everyone must say this forum is amazing will be recommending to everyone i know that deals with motability to look here.

Currently we have a 2001 BMW X5 4.4 sport with air ride and front and rear leather heated seats but no hoist as the AV equipment for the factory fitted PlayStation takes up some of the boot on the side the hoist would go so need to get something big and comfortable not that anything can beat the comfort of the X5.

we are currently looking for either a Sharan or Touran as the allspace boot was not high enough for my wifes wheelchair, any advice regarding getting the dealership to look for available stock so we don’t have to wait the 15 weeks?

    Thanks

    Dale.

    Welcome to the Forum

The key thing is to not be fussy on colour and if able to afford extras, some dealers would be approachable to do a deal on cancelled  or built available stock, you can usually get added extras at the cost to dealer price, a email to ones your willing to travel too may be prudent,

Hi Dale and welcome to the forum, also thank you for your kind words.

My advice would to go on the VW dealer locator page https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/find-a-retailer and fire off an email to all that you are prepared to travel too, asking that question.

I would ask about cancelled orders already on the production line as well as stocked models to give you more scope, bearing in mind that colours and options will already have been decided.

There are a few VW dealers highly recommended by users of the forum, if you give us the area of the country you are from we may be able to point you to a specific specialist that maybe able to assist.

Good luck, and keep us updated……. oh and feel free to share photos of the BMW 😉

    Lovely Dale,

Will you become a 2 car household or are you cutting the strings and letting her go?

No dealers on here close to you Dale, a couple are offering £500 cashback off the AP (VW South Oxford for one) If you do find a dealer with a suitable vehicle it wouldn’t harm asking if they will match the offer.

the polo in the picture is my day runner it’s a bluemotion 86mpg so the X5 has to go unfortunately as 3 cars for one driver is just greedy 🙂

Update we have ordered our car today, we called into local dealer to take a look at the Touran to see if it was any different on comfort to the Sharan which it wasn’t so decided to go ahead with the order for the Sharan and luck would have it they have a SE NAV in Atlantic blue metallic auto in the group so we don’t have to wait the 16 weeks for a factory build. It did mean that we couldn’t have heated seats as that was one of our desirables as the stock one is completely standard build but that wasn’t a deal breaker what is good though is the APP Connect is just a change in the ECU so we were able to get that added “wife still asking why i feel i needed it” lol

Next step is getting the hoist fitted then we can collect happy days.

    Hi Dale

When you say “next step getting the hoist fitted” I hope you ordered that at the same time you ordered your car or you don’t get the very large Motability subsidy

If you did order then nothing to worry about but if you haven’t ordered the hoist you need to get back onto the dealer.

@chrisk yep ordered via the dealer he is getting back to me Tuesday once he has a install date so we can drop the chair over.

£250 for the 120kg hoist is a bargain as the A frame mount on it’s own is £250.

Pictures will be posted as soon as we get it.
