Good Afternoon Ladies & Gentleman,
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well, or as close to it as possible
So as the title suggests I have a new order in the book
I placed it on the 31st of Aug so my new lease will still have the older T&Cs that we’ve been used to for a while
Delivery date… around… June 2027 🤣🤣
tbh that’s music to my ears, absolutely perfect. Gives me time enjoy my current car more ( which I really enjoy ) and get the whole EV charging thingmybobby set up and a new drive way
Motivation for new projects isn’t something I excell in these days, so June next year gives me plenty of time to get things organised & to save for the all important AP & Garden Work

So…. Now onto the all important car choice..
I was all set for some shiney space ship themed interior car from the Orient as I do love my Sci Fi and gadgets, but figured all that tech will still be there in 3 years plus all the new stuff they add
So after saying Nope… that’s not for me I ordered a
Mini Countryman SE ALL4 Sport Level 1
what a mouthful that is
They do a Petrol JCW Countryman but not an Electric one, so this is as close it as I can get, it’ll come with all the JCW trim outside and in. It’s actually the fastest Mini they make ( in a straight line lol )
There has been many changes to the scheme since my last order. One of the main ones is you are no longer allowed to add any packs, any extras, even the go faster mini bonnet stripes , paying extra for different alloys and you have to pick a metallic paint
So for me in terms of these new changes I can’t order the Mini Bonnet Stripes as an extra ( £200 ) but once it arrives at the dealership I can arrange via them to get the stripes added
There is pros n cons to this new car, 4wd , new infotainment system, more powerful a faster acceleration, much more space and higher driving position and overall a lot of bang for your buck
But some of the things that I’ll miss is No Sunroof, No Upgraded Speaker System, No Alternative Alloy Choice and I’m not able to add any of these at my expense which is disappointing and seems pretty silly – No Tints as standard on Level 1 either ( although I always get them redone )
Sorry I’m waffling on a bit now , my brain works faster than my fingers can type so apologies for any missing words, just try your best to fill in the gaps 🤷🏻♂️🤣
I’ll add a photo of how the new car will look once the Tints and Bonnet Stripes have been added which I’ll organise through the dealer so they are done for collection day which will take my total bill to close to £4k which is a lot of money.. but considering the car would be over £48k or £45 including the Gov EV discount I feel it’s a lot of car for the money considering some Corsa’s, Astra’s and the VW family have cars asking for more than double my AP
I have had 4 white cars in a row so I’m going for a more stealthy look as there is no chrome visible on the exterior
be nice to hear from any members with the same car or similar , or just anyone who fancies commenting and saying hello
I know zilch about the all the electric charging and what and who is best , so I’ll be looking for plenty of advice on that closer to the time.
So for now it’s just general talkIf something super duper appeared down the line I can always cancel this and re order , June 2027 is a long time away 😎😇

Im the same. I’ve ordered the Countryman E Monochrome in Black (16th May), its due around the end of this month and Ive never used electric either 🤦♀️ I have my Ohme Pro installed and and pretty much ready to go but I’m a little apprehensive.
Thanks, your one is lovely too. Like you, I got the old mileage etc and it was nil AP where as now mine would be £1999 😱
Well done Winston I shall be ordering a CHR+ design in metal oxide around Xmas for march delivery if it’s still £1.195 then so I’ll be entering the EV world too let the dinosaurs carry on paying £60 to fill their tanks with petrol or diesel
Drove one a few months ago and loved it. It would certainly be towards the top of my list if I was about to renew.

I did consider the mini as like you said it does seem to offer quite a lot (4 wheel drive) big plus. However ruled it out with the dashboard design.
I still think it will be a very good choice. I really think EV’s have come a long way now.
Like you I’m paying a highish AP on Hyundai Ionic 5 and am also thinking about a new driveway so need to keep saving lol
I’ve had a Black Monochrome EV since the end of March and have put over 7500 faultless miles on it now. It’s my first EV but the transition from ICE was easy and it’s still an absolute blast to drive. Go-kart mode is incredible! 🙂

Congratulations @Winston I know two people who have Countryman EVs and both are very happy with them. Once you can charge at home you will make a nice saving as well 👍

Thats an excellent choice of vehicle.That is on a shortlist of favoured vehicles including the exact spec of your mini countryman,Volvo ex30 or chr + however I’m not able to choose until the beginning of 2027 but hopefully these choices will still be available and the AP doesn’t rise too much 🤞
i currently drive a Cupra Born and it has been fantastic as the first EV I’ve been fortunate to have on the scheme.I initially had driveway parking at my previous home and I paid 9p per kw but I downsized to a new apartment 1 year ago but th developer has installed Podpoint chargers for apartments that are 30p per kw but better than that I have found free charging at a shopping centre across the road from me and I am often lucky to find a charger but not as easy as it sounds so a bit of luck is involved or a quick look at the app to let me know if one or more is available.
I have to say with all the uncertainty regarding fuel costs petrol and diesel the EV option is definitely the way to go but understand it’s not for everyone.

I’m really glad, I told my mum have one – it meant, I could try before I buy😂
Mum isn’t bothered either way and will follow me in leaving the scheme in August 27
