Having run two of the boxy X Trails previously, I’m very much liking Nissan’s design shift on the model, back to a more muscular overall look.

Time will tell whether we see it on the scheme in any decent level of specification.

I’m not usually a fan of white cars so much, but the new design suits it I think …

So is your next enquiry to Motability to ask if they are planning to review the Price Cap?

I think I can explain why the VW ID5 is on Motability at £55,000, is it because its only worth £42,000.

          ?

              Theat much!

I don’t know how Motability work these day’s. I was led to believe if a manufacturer put a model on the scheme under the cap, they were then able to put the same model at an higher spec above the the cap. Then in pops a £55k ID5, maybe because it’s an EV the cap is £13k higher ?

Maybe, regardless what Nissan say they don’t want the Tecna/+ on the scheme because Mb is offering them peanuts for one!

Still makes no sense to me. I think Motability make it up as they go along.

Here’s a question, if Nissan added the Tekna spec of X Trail, but with the VC Turbo mild hybrid engine, would it be of interest ? ?

Not for me – its the standard E-power in Tecna trim or I’m out and hope something else comes along in q2!

We will never Know, although I often think its how much a manufacturer will sell their cars to Mb 🙂

I would have a look at the VC Turbo Hybrid if they added it in Tekna trim (it’s below the price cap).

But the question is does Nissan really want to promote and sell it, as surely the push will be on e-power.

I think its more to do with Nissan been reluctant putting the Tecna on. As I have said before-I  am under the impression if a  manufacture puts a model under the the price cap they can put models above the cap on. Take the Kia Soprtage HEV ot the Tuscon PHEV-they are higher than the cap but made it on the scheme.

My guess Nissan don’t want it on the scheme. Whether thats because Mb dont want to pay Nissan what they want for the car or other.

                          Steve

Firstly I am new to the forum (and motability) so apologies for any breach of etiquette.

I have just taken the plunge and ordered an X trail in n connecta spec although I really could have done with the Tekna as the lack of electric seats and a remote tailgate release isnt good for people like me with limited movement and strength (seems to be a bit of a glaring omission by Motability) but I am hoping that the Tekna is added in the next quarter and I can change the order.

Once I have the car I will also be looking for a mobility scooter and ideally would like something with a bit of ‘track’ ability as I really miss walking through the countryside which I am now unable to do. It would also be fantastic if it would fit in the back of the X trail, seats down not a problem, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations (or even knew if such a thing exists)

Hi Steve congrat’s on the order of your new car and live in hope for the Tecna  🙂

I cannot help with a scooter other than, yes I believe such things exist. There are various disabled scooter rambling groups about.

An interesting email exchange with Nissan this morning.

They’ve not discounted proposing the Tekna trim with the VC Turbo engine for the scheme, but as I wondered they advise that supply is mostly geared to e-power just now.

That aside they are about to open negotiations with motability for their Q2 line up.

                                Fingers crossed ?

Just got the following response from Nissan Motability today:

Apologies for the delay in responding. Unfortunately not, the model availability does not look like it will be changing in 2023. The Tekna Spec on Qashqai will be the highest spec we can supply on the Motability scheme and the N-Connecta for X-Trail.

I had a look a look at the X-trail and was seriously interested until I realised what you don’t get.

Naturally the model they had was a Tekna (may even have been a +). Some things wouldn’t have bothered me but heated seats and power tailgate were main things.

Real shame as the boot was spot on for my wheelchair.

Oh well, if Subaru don’t make any headway in rejoining the scheme either, we’ll quite happy keep our XC40.

But still £42,000 mire than an x-trail with a horrible, noisy CVT gearbox. Never again would I have this truly awful so called automatic built buy coneheads (design of cvt gears)

                                                    E-power around 44/45,  E40rce 4wd about 33.

The non E-power X Trail I guess mid to late 30s but has a CVT which I’d never have again. The X Trail is a big es don’t forget, much bigger than your Tiggy.

                                                    The QashQui E-power around 50mpg.

Tuscon Ultimate is nice, bit bigger than yours but only 29ish mpg locally.

As the dealership didn’t have any at the showroom to see the drop down in specs compared to the tecna
