New car sales slump

New car sales in 2020 have decreased around 4% in comparison to the same period last year! And with the added strain of the coronavirus causing global pantic, car sales are likely to continue to slump in march.

Do we predict that manufacturers will be discounting cars to mobility and are we likely to see a healthy fall in AP’s to encourage people onto the scheme??

      What do you think??

It could happen you never know, although I would have thought that motability should have been in the drivers seat for the last year or so and all we have seen is less choice and higher APs.

If you ordering one quarter with a A P and the quarter you get your car is less, which A P do you pay?

Brydo.. yes quite agree with you, we should be having excellent deals considering the state of the new car market.

Michael…I think if you lock in a deal at the end of Q1 and the vehicle Isnt ready until Q2 and the vehicles goes up in Q2 you have locked in the lower price.  If on the other hand the AP is lower in Q2, then cancel the vehicle and reorder at the lower price!!

Carl  I can almost guarantee if the automotive market prices drop AP will not decrease, Motability is a business they will just make a bigger profit.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

No, is the answer. He even tried to get into the hiring of the eleventy twelve thousand nurses this morning!

On Carl’s subject post, sadly I have to agree with @Oscarmax. The millions Motability were embarrassed into spending last year will soon be topped back up by the chronically high AP’s vs lower retail costs………which is sad as so many other people (hoarders, profiteers, etc) are receiving so much grief for taking advantage of the situation.  And worse when you consider the people Motability serve.

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

Oscarmax, menorca mike, it’s such a shame that these lower vehicle costs are not passed onto us as customers!! Ultimately, mobility would not have a business without us all using this service. 🙁
