<p style=”text-align: left;”>Peugeot 308 was ordered on March 16 this year with a delivery estimate for anywhere between mid August and October.

Imagine my surprise waking up to this text (May 28).

We went down and had a look but unfortunately couldn’t drive it away today.

It will still be another week and a half before it can be driven. They have to add plates and a few other things. Apparently I’m the first person in the city to get one, and one of the first in the UK.

Just some initial thoughts if you’ve ordered one and are interested:
<p style=”text-align: left;”>- It’s better looking and bigger in person. Much longer than I anticipated.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>- The white, red and light grey (cumulus grey) are the best colours I.M.O. That’s entirely subjective, but I went with a friend and a few family members who said the same. The Avatar Blue is nice – as are all the colours – but it’s not as vibrant as in the promotional pictures.

    – The rear seat space is very disappointing. There are hatchbacks with more leg room. It’s quite abysmal to be honest for a car this long. The boot is massive however. It’s not a dealbreaker for me – 90% of the time there will be 1 or 2 people in the car – but I would have preferred to have had a smaller boot and more rear leg room. The car also feels very dark and claustrophobic inside due to the black headliner, no sunroof and very dark tinted privacy glass. As a family car I would be looking at the 3008 or something else.

its lovely, I drove all the way home in e-save mode to keep the battery for the wife and boy to go in it in electric only mode and well lets just say that impressed dealer said realistically on petrol only about 50-54 I got 52.3 for the trip.

Yes, but I think that only applies to cars ready to go in showrooms. Not factory orders like mine.

Thanks for confirming anyway. Have you got any pics?

    Enjoy your new car.

nope dealer said its on orders and always has been, you should phone another dealer to enquire,

only got a couple of images its raining, one thing I really like despite being a small item, if no one is in car after a trip you can just walk away and it locks it self, all the cars with keyless I have had up to this point have only locked themselves if you have unlocked and dont open the door.

you are going to love it, especially the pull massage mode, thats my fav

If any one is after the GT premium hatch back, Bristol street motors in harlow have one in stock in the pearl red and would let it go to a motability customer (ask for callum when you ring).

    @johnsnow95
for you rear seat space is ok tbh, when you turn car off the front seats go back on their own to make it easier to get out, when you get back in and turn on they go to the memory position last used.

Just called a few places and asked the same question “are all paint colours included for free on the Motability scheme?”. Got a range of answers.

The one you mentioned, Marshalls in Ashford – “All colours are included except for Pearlescent which are £150 extra.”

Regal Motors (Wolverhampton) – £150 extra for pearl.

Arbury (Stourbridge) – £150 extra for pearl.

Startin’ Peugeot (Redditch) – he thinks FOC, but he’s not sure because the Motability specialist isn’t in.

Telford Motors – FOC. Very knowledgeable chap. This is first place to 100% confirm that it depends on the dealership. Some charge, some don’t, and one dealer isn’t obliged to match the offering of another. It’s at their discretion.

That would explain why we’re both hearing two different stories.

Thanks for the pics. Lovely interior. I barely know anything about the car tech-wise. I think I’m in for some surprises.

I can tell you the short cuts are pretty easy to asign, you just push and hold the shortcut widget (the lower screen) it should change color and then push and hold the menu item you want to replace it with. For some reason there is the default of climate in the touch screen shortcuts on second screen, but its not needed as there is a phyisical button under it for climate.

Also another thing to point out is to ring and make sure they have checked the ac wiring as it note for the first batch to make sure clips have been pushed in.

also make sure you install the my peugeot app on your phone and sign up to get your 3 years services (maps and traffic, car control and telymetrics activated).

hey @johnsnow95 some tips for you, well one really.

swipe the display until you get app drawer, when you go into this, select the adas then press and hold the it toggle you want to replace, then tap panoramic camera, this allows you to have a button to toggle the camera when parking forward onto a drive as it only shows up when you put in reverse without this.

I have a test drive booked for this coming Monday, for the 308 PHEV 225BHP GT LINE.

How much did you have to pay for home charger install? or was it a full EV ?

Hi Joss, mine is a 1.2 petrol. I didn’t go for the PHEV. The full electric version isn’t out until 2023. Right now you only have petrol, diesel and PHEV options.

I went to the dealership with the full intention of ordering the PHEV, but the Peugeot representative talked me out of it.

PHEVs are great for the right people, but if you don’t have a driveway in your home (we do, but the spot is taken by the owner!) of course you can’t have the charger crossing the pavement, so that limits your options solely to charging at a public network, which for a PHEV takes some time. Only for 30ish miles. During winter even less.

The increased cost of the PHEV (an extra thousand pounds Advance Payment), plus the inconvenience of not being able to charge at home, plus the rising electricity costs (still cheaper that petrol, but no longer the bargain EVs were a couple years ago), plus the added weight and finally my driving habits (I often do long journeys) and the PHEV just didn’t make sense to me. Perhaps for 5+ years, but not for 3 years.

But of course to the right people the PHEV can be brilliant. Especially if you have your own home charger and do shorter journeys.

Otherwise, the car is really impressive to drive. Steering is nice and light and is comfortable.

In my 208 GT, if you press 3 fingers against the big screen – it bring up all the shortcuts right there in front of you.

Hey @rico thanks for the tip! I got the car yesterday and I’m still learning.

Does your car make a noise when it locks? As I walk away from it mine makes a beep beep sound as the wing mirrors fold inward. Not sure if that’s normal.

I have not got the charger going to charge from 3pin plug, should take 7 hours overnight.

Morning @johnsnow95 The sound and flashing lights are part of the “Hello, Good buy feature” upon locking and unlocking your car.

Mitch, yes I see not really bothered about leather but my car was not even yet in build so being able to get this one now was a bonus.

Let you know if it was worth it next week, will struggle with touch screen so may asking here again and again how something works.

I saw one of these in a Peugeot garage last week. It’s a very good looking vehicle, especially in an eye-catching metallic green. I didn’t sit in it as I was worried about getting back out. It looks rather sleek and low.

Hey @RICO, how is everything going with the car? Any issues?

I’m having a problem where my door mirrors aren’t folded in. When I lock the car at night I see them fold in. The next morning I wake up and they are folded back out again. Nobody has touched the key. And it’s notnin range of the car. We park abiut 100ft away.

My infotainment system has crashed a few times as well. Including once when I needed the map and was left without instructions. It seems to be an Apple Carplay issue.

yes it beeps when locking thats normal

a small contribuiton as it was in stock and I had to collect it by the end of the month to put their numbers up to magical discount numbers for next month, its why I always say if a car your after is in stock try to barter near end of month or quater.

@Johnsnow probalby buried deep in the menu someplace 🙂

    @joss
if you go for a phev, make sure you buy a 13amp 3pin charger I had a 10amp and then noticed it only charged at 5mph were as the 13amp charges at 9mph so I sent the 10amp back and got a 13amp.

also I can do 70 miles in hybrid mode before the battery is depleted with a avg return of 130mpg if battery is flat in does reserve a bit so car acts like a mild hybrid and at 70mph you will get about 52mpg (which is not bad for a plugin)…

one unique feature of this that makes it stand out from other phev’s is the e-Save mode, if you select miles you want to save (there is 6, 12 and max option) if the car battery is bellow that level the combustion engine will charge the battery with regen toghether to get it to that level…

tested both having covered over 1000 miles since may 31st (first time ever I have done that under a month) at 70 mph the mph in esave max mode (so car will fully reccharge battery from engine) you get about 40ish mpg…

what a great car this is a very suprising in so many ways, especially the full blown massage you get, not this whimpy vibration stuff.

I also love the way the seat goes back when you open the door.
