      Hi,

Disaster has stuck once again and the Kamiq has been sent back to Mon Motors for yet more work thanks to oil dribbling out of the camshaft sensor housing. I’d already opened a complaint against the service that I wasn’t getting from Mon Motors Weston after they failed to rectify any of the previous issues before I found the oil leak on my driveway.

On the senior case manager at ŠKODA UK Customer Service’s advice, I called ŠKODA Assist (The AA) who I’ve had out before and they wouldn’t come out because of it being a Motability customer and transferred me to the RAC who thought it was acceptable to estimate 10 hours into the middle of the night before someone could come and “look over” my car just because it was at home. I cancelled the RAC and got back to the AA and got transferred to the AA Fleet Management Team and sent a patrol out in 50 minutes who confirmed the oil leak and booked me into their VW Group rental fleet or Enterprise if they couldn’t help keep me moving.

I contacted them to arrange the collection of a rental car yesterday and they told me that they had an Enyaq hiding in Bath and that they would supply me with an Uber to fetch it but wanted me to check with DLM about insuring it on my policy. I got the go ahead by DLM and got back to the AA, they then refused to help me because of being a Motability customer once again and insisted that they weren’t responsible despite Motability Operation’s permission and ŠKODA UK’s advice to use the AA due to the RAC and Europcar’s profound incompetence that I’d had the displeasure of dealing with last week when they gave my automatic medium SUV to someone else and then told me that they’d ran out of cars and then wanted 2 weeks to deliver it so I had to go and fetch a battered VW Golf in Bristol on the train at my expense as they wouldn’t cover a taxi.

After another two hours of back and forth to various parties on the phone, I eventually worn down the AA to supply me with a car as soon as I gave them the name of the senior manager at ŠKODA UK.

I caught the Uber to Bath from Weston after dropping my car off and arrived to find a lovely Enyaq with no charge left to get back to Taunton. Plugged in at the Toyota showroom free of charge next door and buzzed enough juice into it to get me home, oh and there’s no Granny Cable so I’ve been relying on the rapid charging network and Electroverse.

It’s a lovely car and I’m absolutely smitten, especially with the AR Head Up Display and massaging seats, but it’s only claiming a maximum of 250 miles at 80% with no heating on and in Eco + B mode.

I’ve been eyeing up some lease deals on an Elroq 85 Edition which is food for thought on my future on the scheme. The Enyaq is an 85x but I really don’t see the need for AWD and the extra joie de vivre away from the lights.

I know a few forum members have an Enyaq, what do you get on a normal day range wise?

          Hi,

Love our Enyaq 85x. The mileage per KW so depends on the temperature. 3.1 when cold and 4.2 in warm weather so depending on your driving style the amount of miles at 80% goes from 248 to just over 300. We are high mileage users so normally charge at home every night as 4 trips to college and back (2 days) drops from 80% to 16% when its the cold weather. Car is really good and enjoyable to drive.

Im glad you like the Enyaq, just ordered one!

85x Sportline Maxx, I too will be interested in it’s efficency in everyday use.

Oh just to add the 4wd is no quicker from the lights than other 85 models, all are 0-62 6.7 sec. but RWD’s offer slightly more range.

            • This reply was modified 1 month ago by Avatar photoLUFC. Reason: Maxx not Plus!

I just ordered an 85 Sportline Maxx with the winter pack. As my daughter likes rear heated seats.

Welcome to Skoda. I had to manage my own battles with both Skoda & MB and eventually decided to take MB to the Financial Ombudsman (I have no capacity to take them both). Their investigator upheld my complaint, yet MB rejected and it is now waiting for the Financial Ombudsman “real” ombudsman (not an investigator / mediator / whatever they call those people) to make the final decision.

In my case it is an opposite – my dad drives only Kodiaqs since they appeared. Every 3 years returns an old one and takes a brand new. Never had an issue. My Enyaq 85x SportLine is all about the issues (with electronics) – MB even acknowledged it by accepting early termination on mechanical grounds, but I cannot afford a new one since the AP climbed from £1,599 I paid for in April 2024 to £3,999 when I raised a complaint with the FO back in June 2025 and now over £5,000 for a new one.

So I have made lots of popcorn and wait for an outcome.

Apologies for briefness and spelling mistakes.

Had my 85X since Jan 2024, in general it’s a good car but let down by buggy software, poor tyres on the larger wheel sizes and some poor build quality issues.

Would I have another one?, possibly the SEL or an Elroq at a decent AP if I can’t find anything else I can fit into (6′ 5-1/2″ with mobility issues).

Current shortlist of alternaives (dependant on AP)

BYD ATTO 3 Comfort (2026 version)
                    KIA EV5 Air
                    Smart #1 Premium
                    Citrroen ë-C5 Aircross Long Range
                    MG S6

Range wise, I’ve only twice had a range (guesstimate) of over 320 miles when charging to 100%, the day I collected it and a week last summer when I did a quiet trip from Durham to Whitby, average around 3.8 to 4.2 miles per kWh.  My overall average over 12,600 miles is showing as 3.1, last week on the warmest day I was getting 3.6 to 3.9 on trips around 30 miles, the day after that was down to 2.2 to 2.7.

I certainly wouldn’t pay the current AP for the 85X, the SEL is much better value at £749, for me the extra £1250 for the Plus package doesn’t add anything I would miss apart from the Matrix headlights and I wouldn’t pay that much for them.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I agree re. 85X vs SEL.
As to C5 Long Range – they didn’t bring E-5008 why would they C5?
