Hi all
This is my review ( sort of ) of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
We’ve had it almost a year now, it’s in for it’s service on Thursday and I thought I’d share my experience with it for anyone looking to get one.
First off I think it’s one of the best looking 7 seat SUV’s available right now on the scheme! Yes it’s a bit thin on tech compared to others but I never used the tech on our old qashqai tekna so it does not bother me.
Looks and build quality:
I personally like the looks of it, the front grill and bumper give it a good look and the side windows are a lot larger than rivals! it is very robust when the going gets military and it’s stood up well to whatever we have thrown at it with nothing breaking or falling off as of yet. The piano black trim around the windows and whatnot is terrible though and scuffs easy. Ours has no rear spoiler so it looks like they forgot to design that part but those are my only two gripes with the exterior
Interior:
It’s a good 7 seater with plenty room for all inside, the boot litre wise is smaller on paper than its rivals but it’s a taller car so it depends on what you are moving around I suppose. Folding the middle row is an absolute carry on compared to others so that a negative, they are theatre seats though ( they are higher than the front row ) so it’s good for getting kids in and out if your back is made of tracing paper like mine! Their is no lumbar support in the front seats so bare that in mind, Storage is good with decent size door bins capable of taking full size drinking bottles. The interior is a wash with cheap hard plastic and black piano trim ( except the dashboard which is soft touch ) and it’s scuffs and marks just by looking at it.
Tech:
Their is not a great deal on it as I’ve said, it has
1 usb connector in all rows
Auto hold
Heated front seats
Reverse camera
It has a few other bits but not really worth mentioning, the 4 version has quite a lot extra tech but we have the juro so I can’t really comment on it.
The infotainment system is decent with good colour range and nice clear display, it has apple and Android auto as standard but no sat nav ( I prefer Google maps anyway ) and an ok sound system.
Driving:
It has decent road manners for a big SUV although it does roll around in the bends if your going a bit quickly. The gearbox is a 6speed CVT which is noisy and clumsy at low speed but fine when on the move, changes are smooth unless your have a heavy right foot which it’s like Joe bloggs on his first lesson is changing gear for you! It has paddle shifters which are pointless and I’ve never used them. It has 4wd with auto, lock and eco settings, the 2.0 petrol engine makes decent use of its 150bhp and we’ve had it to Disney land last year which it achieved around 40-42 mpg on the motorway and high 20’s to low 30’s around the doors which is fairly decent.
So to sum up, it’s a good looking car which drives decent and is fairly roomy and comfortable for the most part! The gearbox is it’s weak point and possibly lack of tech but overall we are really happy with it and the best part? It was ready in 3 weeks and not the 6-9 months VW said I’d of waited for an allspice.
Cheers to anyone that has actually read this and if you’ve any questions feel free to ask, chris
