This one > 150kW E Monochrome 66kWh 5dr Auto : Model REF number: 664167.
After contacting various Mini dealers for basic information on the base specs, I keep receiving different answers !
So….does the base spec model of the Mini Countryman Monochrome (Level big fat zero, poverty model, just the bread without the butter, only the left sock), come with:
The head up display?
Also, why does Motability show it in Green when it only comes in Black or White (i.e M..o..n..o..c..h..r…o..m..e).
Answers on a post-card to :
What’s included in the Green Mini……

I can’t answer the green Mini question but yes, the Monochrome does have the HUD.
Not sure about the ‘left sock’ reference as it also comes with electric tailgate, heated front seats and privacy glass which are expensive spec options on most other variant’s.
More importantly, it’s a superb car. I’ve had mine for almost two months now and put 2500K on it. It’s cheap as chips to run, very comfortable and a lot of fun!
Current car: Mini Countryman EV in very shiny black!
Previous car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black.

Excellent, that would have killed it for me had it not been present. Looking towards the middle of the dash to check speed is absurd in this day and age of safety.
It’s either the Mini or EV3, I have concerns over Kia’s ICCU failures, so will need some convincing to go with the EV3.
May 26, 2026 at 10:05 am #361522It gets heated seats but they remove the heated steering wheel that’s standard from the base classic upwards. It’s a very odd spec in my opinion. Power boot as well I think as a HUD
May 26, 2026 at 10:08 am #361523There are things I would like it to have, such as folding mirrors and keyless entry for example, but I can’t say I’ll ever miss not having a heated steering wheel.

May 26, 2026 at 10:26 am #361525I can see why you asked the question, as I had a look at the Mini website before seeing that someone who has one had already replied, and it’s not obvious! They don’t list it in the standard specification, but it’s shown on the Monochrome page, and not listed as an extra cost option, which made me think it was included as standard. Also, it’s shown on the interior shots in the configurator, and if their configurator works the same as BMW’s (highly likely) it only shows what’s included in your specification (updating when you add options). Anyhow, DougieB has confirmed what I deduced!
As an aside, as you probably realise, it’s a glass screen on the dashboard, rather than an HUD that projects onto the windscreen so looks like it’s on the road ahead of you (odd that they use a different system to BMW – must be cost related).
As for the colour, Motability vehicle selector is beyond useless. There are countless examples where the wrong model is depicted in the listings, and often the particular model looks entirely different. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that at least half of the photos used are not the specific model!
Finally, just to say that I loved the way that you phrased your questions – very entertaining 😂
May 26, 2026 at 10:30 am #361527i almost went for the monochrome but you cant play music from a usb as the ports are for charging only not data. so i pick up an ev4 on saturday instead. daft the things that rule out one car over another. at the time of ordering 28 feb the ev 4 was cheaper than the ev 3 now its the other way around the ev3 would probabley got the nod although the ev4 in air trim i think is better than the ev3 in air.so i would probabley pay the £224 on wpms. but i got it for zero so well pleased and the range is a bit better than the mini.

I would have said the same, until I had a heated steering wheel for the first time on our current car, now I wouldn’t be without one! Annoyingly, I’ve had to add a package on my private car order that includes things like heated rear seats (which are never used), heated and cooled Cupholders (which sounds like a gimmick as I almost never have drinks in the car) and, wait for it, heated front door armrests and centre console armrest – all just to get the now essential heated steering wheel 🤬😂

I am not sure the basic countryman monochrome does have HUD
Worth being 100% and checking again if ordering but from what I can see using AI
No, the Head-Up Display (HUD) is not standard on the MINI Countryman Monochrome. While it is standard on the smaller Monochrome hatchback and Aceman models, on the Countryman, the HUD remains an optional feature that requires upgrading to a higher equipment package (such as the Level 1/Level 2 trims)
WORTH CHECKING IF ITS A DEAL BREAKER
May 26, 2026 at 10:53 am #361535There are things I would like it to have, such as folding mirrors .
I missed that ! I have to fold the mirrors on my Tucson when going through the gates of my drive. The difference between the Tucson with the mirrors folded is about the same as the Mini’s (tip to tip), so I may get away with it.
May 26, 2026 at 10:56 am #361536I can see why you asked the question,
As the thread is developing, you can see others are also confused as to the base level specs. As you say, it is not very clear, and the AI offerings are all over the place as you’d expect.
May 26, 2026 at 11:17 am #361542I meant auto folding mirrors.

May 26, 2026 at 11:20 am #361543I am ordering the classic SE on june 1st so wasn’t up to speed on the Monochrome spec as wanted more choice
I have since gone on Mini main site where you get to build your model
Having now done that with the monochrome
I can say it does not come with the HUD

I’m glad it’s not just me. Mini UK have now come back to me and confirmed the base model does come with HUD. I, like you and many others are head scratching to how difficult Mini have made this for new customers. That EV3 – even with potential issues – is looking more likely by the minute !
May 26, 2026 at 11:39 am #361547The Holy Grail
May 26, 2026 at 11:52 am #361549I agree it is a bit sketchy tbh
Just to add I had been on the configuration a month or so ago and I could swear the monochrome was not on there but it is now
Could be wrong as not directly looking for it at the time tbh
The Kia EV3 was on my shortlist of 2 and potential issues as you mention put me off tbh and a HUD is not something I personally need
Saying that if I roll up on the 1st June and the mini has been removed then its a quick spin down to Kia and order the EV3 GT Line
P/S Mini just emailed me back and confirmed the monochrome does have HUD which underscores your point how difficult Mini have made this for new customers
Look forward to updates once you have decided
May 26, 2026 at 11:54 am #361550Good find as couldnt find that myself

Mini should have called this model a ‘Large’.

YEP Fat n Fast lol
May 26, 2026 at 12:13 pm #361558From memory, it gets heated seats, but no heated steering wheel, if thats important.
May 26, 2026 at 12:53 pm #361562i almost went for the monochrome but you cant play music from a usb as the ports are for charging only not data…
How weird is that in this day and age that there are no USB ports with which to play music – just charging only?!?! My last car and my current car came with both. I think MINI are just being tight b*stards.
May 26, 2026 at 2:53 pm #361566And having driven my own one this morning, I can assure you that it does have the HUD as standard.
Current car: Mini Countryman EV in very shiny black!
Previous car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black.
May 26, 2026 at 7:29 pm #361580Of all the other cars I have seen
I can understand the appeal/need for the HUD in the Mini as otherwise you have to constantly look left at the dinner plate to simply check speed
But I am sure come Sep I will adapt without it ( countryman SE Classic £499 ) and enjoy blue/white paint/power instead
But tbh I will miss not having the monochromes privacy glass
All in all imo AP to one side the monochrome has much appeal and is a nice looking car
But the Mrs says no lol to just black/white
So I went for the SE All4 which she hasn’t yet grasped the meaning of ( I bet she does following her first drive to Tesco’s tho lol )

May 26, 2026 at 9:11 pm #361581i test drove the countryman several times in different specs as i was wary of not having screens in front of me and did each test drive with and without the hud. i was suprised at how quickly you get used to not having the screens/dials in front of you. also the hud was easy to adjust to the right level for you. theres a wide range of specs but the monochrome at 0 ap for wpms is a bargain just the fact i wouldnt have been able to play my music from my usb’s. it would cost a fortune and a lot of time to get it all on a phone or subscription play list.plus i am not good at that sort of thing.it took months to download all my cd’s and vynal onto usb’s.

So glad you are enjoying the car as that is music to my ears
I am off this morning to sign up for the EV classic SE and happy to see that it hasn’t been pulled and that the AP has remained low
I have said on here before IMO the EV countryman AP will soon jump up quite a bit
I am fortunate in my timing in being able to beat the July 1st timeline
In the grand scheme of things what you get for your buck is outstanding and imo the best deal on the scheme at the moment
in any event I think this will be my last car on the scheme as I hate being treated as a political football
