I guess don’t fully depress the brake paddle and take off auto hand brake
October 15, 2025 at 6:52 pm #315603Its to the left of the gear lever on manual cars, on auto’s your out of luck!
The engine’s automatic start/stop function in the MG HS is enabled by default and does not require manual operation.

I had stop start on the Volvo so really has no impact with the MG, I just let it do as intended, when handing back the Volvo, I looked back and in my mind said Thanks and goodbye (daft I know) however I haven’t missed it at all🤣..October 22, 2025 at 7:50 am #316092Almost a 1000 miles in from picking up the MG, the app on this car is excellent, great with the heated steering wheel(missing on the xc40) climate control, demist, seats all A1..
It’s just so comfortable too..
Guess no one can or should rely on this, first time for me, but seems always covered in leaves..

October 27, 2025 at 5:25 pm #316346Not bad mpg at all there mate!
Leaves, heavy rain, sleet etc can play havoc on radar sensor, so just try keep it cean and hope it doesn’t nock out adas systems, as it does on Tucson.
Still happy with it?

@Speedyrelief there is no link, you can’t PM, you’ll just have to message on the open forumNovember 1, 2025 at 8:20 am #316556it’s just so comfortable..
I really do feel this is a very under estimated car, it’s fast enough for I’d say better than the average motorway driver in this the UK.
Just eats up the miles..
November 1, 2025 at 8:29 am #316557Morning @Speedyrelief
November 1, 2025 at 8:52 am #316558Hi @ajn – Just a couple of questions if thats ok.
Does the boot have a sensor under the bumper for the boot to open or is it just a button push on the boot release?
Does the car have different drive modes like economy-Normal-Sport?
With the Hybrid+ do you have to press the start button or does it start when you put it drive?
Sorry if these questions have been asked before.
Regards Andrew
November 1, 2025 at 9:22 am #316559No problem at all @Speedyrelief, yes it has a foot sensor to open the boot, middle section under the bumper, with a forward kick and retreive, also it don’t fly up fast at you, in fact could be classed as slow compared to my Volvo, which I found to quick opening..
Again yes it does have different settings and drive modes (I’ve not needed them, Wife do😆) It can be found on screen the setting, sport, comfort etc…
As far as I’m aware and always do, yes you must press the start button to select drive, also must have seatbelt on to move unless reversing.
However as long as you have the key on you in person keyless entry, boot release including foot boot sensor opening.
Also the app is great, i.e preheat, lock unlock, find car, demist, heated seats, steering wheel..
If possible I’d highly advise a test drive and a chat with MG, thing is the car has it all tbh, only choice of change is colour, interior only come with one extra choice of colour..
I think you’ll find(if you go) the sales staff very relaxed about the product, as there’s not much to choose and it’s all as standard… it sells its self, I found, but we all differ..
Ill try get a pic of the drive modes later for you..
November 1, 2025 at 9:43 am #316560Thank you for all the help. We took the test drive and ordered the car for delivery in December (that’s our changeover date). When we looked back in September the car was not the Hybrid+ but when we did the test drive a week later the dealer said the Hybrid+ replaced the standard 1.5 Petrol.
We found the car very accessible as I’m over 6ft 2inc with a fully fused spine. We currently have a Vauxhall Grandland and it’s been the worst car I’ve ever had on the scheme and we can’t wait to get rid of it.
I think it’s just the change from petrol to a hybrid that may take a bit of time to get used to but I’m sure we will get used to all the extra tech.
Do you use the included in car Wifi (Sim card) and what is the sound quality like on the stereo?
Regards Andrew

November 1, 2025 at 10:32 am #316563@Speedyrelief see pic above, hopefully it’s a help..
Well slight confusion with the wifi, yes it has a connection, my Wife did ask after sales follow up, do we need to purchase a card or data etc, in which Nathaniel’s reply was NO its fine and we will never run out 🤷🏼♂️, so we just use it..
Tbh that bit is beyond me ..
We always use Spotify and have it I’d say rather loud when needed, it’s fine
November 1, 2025 at 11:16 am #316565Thank you for all the help. We took the test drive and ordered the car for delivery in December (that’s our changeover date). When we looked back in September the car was not the Hybrid+ but when we did the test drive a week later the dealer said the Hybrid+ replaced the standard 1.5 Petrol.
The Hybrid+ has not replaced the standard petrol, as it still available as a 1.5l petrol manual or automatic.
If you ordered prior th the Hybrid+ launching, check your paperwork and ensure it states the hybrid version and not the petrol.
The control screens are basically identical throughout the range however the hybrid+ basically has a seperate page for hybrid setting, such as regen, which is easy to master in no time. Other than that, you drive it very similar to how you drive a petrol.
November 1, 2025 at 12:07 pm #316566We did originally look at the standard petrol HS in the showroom. When we went back to do the test drive it was in the Hybrid+ version. The salesman, who was extremely helpful said that if we ordered we would get the hybrid + version. During the test drive, I didn’t really pay attention to the hybrid features as I was more concerned about comfort and accessibility.
I’ve just checked my paperwork and online account and it has the 1.5 petrol Hybrid + Auto trophy edition.
We are having an adaptation of a boot hoist for my mobility scooter so hopefully I can be more independent.
Thank you all for answering my questions – Regards Andrew
November 1, 2025 at 2:11 pm #316567I did set the a c c at a certain speed, got out there and tested it, must say very impressive in the outer lane, using all functions provided on this vehicle..
Beware the auto high beam for me can be a slight delay to when I would usually dip..
November 1, 2025 at 6:08 pm #316577@Speedyrelief (Andrew) I really hope you get the independence you seek and deserve, and I’m certain this is going to be a comfortable way of finding it..👍
