Hi all.
Just trying to see what most people have been told what there waiting times are at the moment. Mine was ordered on the 1st of April (I had been waiting for the Sportage as it had been rumoured to be in this quarter) I was told September for the gtline s hybrid FWD by the dealer but I’m not sure to believe that!
What have others been told?

I’ve had my GT-Line S for quite a while a while now. Great car and you’ll love yours being a Hybrid. I was a few days too late and had to get the Mild Hybrid. It’s absolutely awful mpg, but you’ll be fine with the hybrid. I was achieving 40mpg on the hybrid I test drove. The same roads with my MHEV, I only get 28mpg.

davidGilders, like you we missed the hybrid by a couple of days. Currently awaiting MHEV GT Line S. I had a coup0le of reservations, one being performance/economy which you have already covered, the other being the ride quality with the 19 inch wheels as opposed to the 18s on the hybrid. How are you finding that?
November 14, 2022 at 10:03 pm #200500Hi David,
This is my first SUV and my last car which I owned for the previous 6 years, was a GOLF GT with lowered suspension and fairly low profile tyres. So I may not be the best person to judge, but I have no issue at all with the suspension/ride quality on these larger wheels. The seats are firmer than I’m used to, but still comfortable.
I probably looked like a drunk driver in my Golf. We have lots of potholes and I had to be constantly swerving to avoid them. This car handles them excellently.

Mark HoweOrdered my Sportage on 18th March was told anything from 6/12months for a build date. Then 6/8 weeks from then.
I have been in contact with dealership in Omagh and they still can’t give me a build date.

Alan ReidSame as above, ordered on 7th April, got mail from dealer yesterday and build date completes this week. Fingers crossed i should have by the end of December, according to their spreadsheet ?
November 28, 2022 at 1:20 pm #201477just had this off our dealer
Just to advise – still continuing supply issues and production logistics with all Sportage HEV. Kia have now advised to expect delivery between December & February 23. We’ve spoken to Motability operations to advise the current situation – as they will be funding the vehicle and expecting your current vehicle back into the network. They have advised a lease extension till the end of February, this is now in place and you should receive a new RSA insurance cover note in the post over the next few days. We will monitor any further bulletins from KIA and advise in due course of any changes to the current status.
December 1, 2022 at 6:20 pm #201716Hi to everyone waiting for a new Sportage, I picked mine up on Tuesday after ordering on April 1st and I can honestly say the wait was worth it. Comparing it with the Tiguan I handed back which never missed a beat in the four years I had it, the GTLs HEV is a definite upgrade. The car drives extremely smoothly and the tech is amazing, I think it will take me some time to get my head around all of it lol. So hang on in there folks, you won’t be disappointed.
December 4, 2022 at 4:32 pm #201912Hi Dave147, there certainly is a lot of tech and lots of it seems to be implemented differently to other manufacturers, so it might take a while to get used to. When you look in to things, you can fine tune MANY features to your own taste. his is best done on the APP as you can store these preferences. There’s been reports of customers losing their settings and the App can restore these. I’ve not suffered from this, except briefly when the car had the wrong time and units had changed to KPH. I drove for a little while and it corrected itself.
My most recent surprise was when I was a passenger and my wife was driving. She has her dashboard set to the one with scenery that changes depending on the time of day. I presumed this was all done by time of day, but it’s more intelligent than that. We were driving in the rain and when I looked at the dash screen, there was little rain drops running down it 🙂
December 5, 2022 at 1:13 pm #201947Hi gilders, it seems like I’ve a lot to learn yet about all the tech embedded into this vehicle. That scenery mode sounds interesting, I haven’t found that yet ?.

SimonWe collected our AWD diesel “4” yesterday. It was ordered early May and like others we missed out on the HEV but through our own fault by not getting to the dealers early enough.
We had a drive out in it last night and were really impressed. It’s nice to have an instant throttle response after 4 years driving a Tiguan. The matrix headlights are fantastic, better than the Tiguan’s non-matrix Dynamic Light Assist.
A 40 mile mixed journey returned an indicated 50.7 mpg. I don’t know how accurate the OBC is but we’re happy with that economy from an engine with 9 miles on the odometer and in 4 degree temperatures.
December 7, 2022 at 5:59 pm #202131@Simon 50.7mpg……I’m averaging 29mpg.
The throttle response when setting off is much better than I expected, although pushing on from around 35mph it really shows it’s lack of power.
EDIT: just realised yours is the diesel. I may have gone for the diesel (after also missing out on HEV), but didn’t want a clogged DPF……..instead I’ve just had a clogged PPF/GPF

david@stuar I assume your Tig was the 2.0 Tsi. Exactly because of the hesitation issue we chose the 2.0Tdi in 2018 althoug we would have preferred the smoothness of the petrol. We were in the same situation as you and indeed Gilders in just missing out on the Sportage hybrid so went for the MHEV

We were in the same situation as you and indeed Gilders in just missing out on the Sportage hybrid so went for the MHEV and now have the quandary of whether to cancel or not because of the GPF issue, not helped by hearing that the lowish 148bhp along with the extra mechanical losses and weight of the AWD make themselves felt at higher speeds. We did wonder but there were no MHEV demos available at the time and all the tests were of the HEV. Incidentally, checked with our dealer yesterday who says they have had no GPF isssues with the cars they have supplied (not yet anyway) but of course the vast majority of models are HEVs. Oh dear, don’t know what to do. All I know is that there is nothing else out there on the scheme we fancy and the VW dealer admitted yesterday that he doesn’t think the Tiguan will be back on the scheme at least for the first half o next year.

December 15, 2022 at 12:58 pm #202641Nissan have released new hybrid models of the Qashqai and X-Trail which i surprisingly like the look of. Given the MPG horror stories and the continued delay in delivery, I will be visiting my local dealer to take a closer look.
I love the Sportage, but i think the fuel economy of a HEV is much more important to me than the looks and technology of a car. Like a lot of us, i am gutted i missed out on the HEV Sportage and probably should have ordered the Diesel instead of the MHEV. Perhaps if there wasnt any delays in the MHEV, i would not be considering alternatives.
Ordered – Sportage 4 MHEV in Penta Grey on 23rd April 2022.
Still no update, chassis number or build date form dealer.
December 15, 2022 at 8:02 pm #202656@AzzaL14 you might already know that I’ve had the GTLS MHEV for a while now.
The reason I originally decided to go for the MHEV after just missing out on the HEV was the reasoning that the £700 lower AP price would compensate for the poorer mpg. The official WLTP figures showed the HEV as being approx. 20% more economical. In reality, it’s over 30%.
Some things you should consider before cancelling –
I think you need to consider how many miles you drive and the type of driving. HEV’s perform well in areas that ICE/MHEVs do not, i.e. short, stop-start driving. Theoretically, on long runs the MHEV should be very similar in efficiency as the HEV.
Delivery times. As far as I can tell, KIA dealerships really don’t get fed much info about cars ETAs. Many customers cars seem to arrive out of the blue. I only got a few days notice. As for the Nissan’s delivery time, I’d struggle to believe it. When I ordered the Sportage I was shown a print out of expected delivery times and even though this print out was not for the public to see, it was still completely inaccurate. My son has a Nissan Arriya on order and was told it would be here before the end of the year. Now been told April – May. You wrote “Perhaps if there wasnt any delays in the MHEV, i would not be considering alternatives.”, if the delays are your main reason, I’d definitely not cancel the order. I think you were unlucky in choosing Penta grey. I read of many customers choosing this colour having a longer wait.
Issues with the MHEV Sportage. I have, like many, had a clogged PPF. Very frustrating as I didn’t go for the diesel, partly because I know that the DPFs on all modern diesels need a good run fairly often and I can’t guarantee that. There’s also been a few other niggling issues with the car, but nothing too serious. I really don’t know much about the XTrail, so although I don’t know of any problems with it, there might be even more than with the Sportage.
I would only change to the X-Trail, if I actually preferred that vehicle and also drove MANY miles to recuperate some of the extra AP. I really can’t emphasise enough that personally I would not believe that the X-Trail would arrive before the Sportage.
December 15, 2022 at 8:07 pm #202657I ordered the HEV GT Line S on the 1st April at about 10.05 in the morning as soon as dealer opened (he didn’t even know it had been added that day)
I’m still none the wiser as to when mine will be delivered, latest info from dealer is ‘no known build week date’
Its becoming very frustrating
December 16, 2022 at 9:43 am #202685To be honest, the thing that i am really worried about with the Sportage is the MPG and associated costs of having to fill up so often.
My daily commute is a 30 mile round trip with 24 of those miles being on the M1 motorway. I live in London, so trips for things such as shopping, hospital visits etc will be stop start. With this in mind, do you think there will be little benefit to going for the Nissan? I am more inclined to go for the Qashqai because of the lower AP and its a smaller car. There is a dealer that has some in stock also, which is what interested me.
How much is it to fill your MHEV Sportage from full to empty and what range does it say you get from a full tank?
December 16, 2022 at 9:55 am #202690December 16, 2022 at 12:42 pm #202712@AzzaL14 I only did empty-to-full fills the first few times (in the hope that the on board mpg calculation was wrong) and I can’t remember the costs, including the cost at the pump. But all that really matters is the mpg.
For some reason I thought the XTrail’s AP was higher than it is. If the X-Trail has all the features you need, then I can see why it’s a tough decision. The WLTP combined figure is the same as the HEV Sportage’s, so I’d estimate that for mostly urban, short distances, it would be 30% better mpg. Your commute is mostly motorway, so the difference in mpg may not be so great, but of course, if the motorway isn’t free flowing then the HEV X-Trail will be much better than the MHEV Kia.
If the choice was between an HEV Sportage 4/GTLS and a HEV Xtrail N-Connecta(both being immediately available), I’d choose the Sportage. But MHEV Sportage vs HEV Xtrail is a tough choice. If YOU like the XTrail (or Qashqai) as much as the Sportage, then you’re probably better off with one of the Nissans.
Being in London, I’d prefer not to have a wide vehicle. I thought the X-Trail (1840mm) would be the widest, but it’s actually the Sportage (1865mm). Qashqai (1835). I love the interior of the Sportage, but to me, it doesn’t feel any roomier than my previous Golf.
