Had an accident in my sportage last week where I damaged the door trim on driver’s side. Got a call from repair garage saying the part has been put on backorder how long does this usually take for repair to be completed.

@Robert88 I don’t want to sound cheeky but how would anybody on here know more than the repair garage… what did they say?
September 19, 2025 at 10:08 pm #312845They said part that was needed has been put on backorder not sure what that means
September 19, 2025 at 10:19 pm #312846it usually means its not in stock or in stores so the manufacturer needs to dispatch to them. In terms of time, its not going to be possible for anyone but your dealer to have an idea but when my skoda part was on back order, my dealer didnt even know either when it would arrive. So, it’s just a waiting game I think!

It means they don’t have the part but they can still sell it to you. Once it has been manufactured then they’ll send it out, how long that’ll take only Kia knows, unlikely the dealer will have any better idea.
September 20, 2025 at 1:42 am #312854What Kia are saying is… They will contact you ..dont contact them. They do not know when the part will arrive. As soon as they get the part they will contact you to effect the repair.
They cannot give you a timescale, as they just do not know when the part will arrive.

September 20, 2025 at 5:48 pm #312881Any webpage with ‘Direct’ in it, is a con. Cameradirect dronedirect, you place your order they take the cash and nothing happens for weeks. Even though every other legit seller are out of stock, these sites say they have stock when there is none. You get your money back easily, but they have had your cash for a few weeks for nothing.
Besides, it doesnt matter in this case, garages only use their verified suppliers, and not ebay or dodgy websites.
Ut yes, anything with “Direct ” in the website, give it a miss.

Such nonsense lol.
Appliancesdirect, dronesdirect etc – ordered from all of them, received my items just like any other retailer. And the vast majority of customers do, hence their trustpilot reviews.
Dronesdirect in particular is part of the “Buy it direct” group, one of the largest online retailers in the UK.
That’s not to say that they don’t get orders wrong – but that happened to me with Argos and Next twice, too.
I can’t speak for all “direct” shops of course (neither can you for that matter, to be clear), but one of the ones you mentioned (dronesdirect, never even heard of cameradirect) is guaranteed a normal website. And so are others, like appliancesdirect. I should know, they were the only ones who had our Samsung washing machine and tumble dryer in stock, and delivered both within a week.

Kia parts direct has a a medium-high trust score on the platform and determined as genuine on scam detector!
September 20, 2025 at 7:35 pm #312886Yes plastic trim.
If yours is the GT, I’d point the repairer to the one on ebay, Kia parts direct (also trades under Peugeot parts direct), may get it from a Kia dealer at a dicounted price and sell it discounted, but as you know they are on back order. There are others on ebay for different Sportage models.
FWIW My mum’s Kona got rear eneded and the rear light cluster, was 3 months delivery, repairer found a genuine new one on ebay and fitted that, so its worth asking the repairer and showing the link.
