Just wondered if anyone would share their thoughts on this. Apologies if it’s a daft query.
Our Kia Sportage is almost 2 years old and only done 6500 miles in that time. Probably the last year of covid with very few trips out has contributed to the low mileage.
In January the particulate filter light came on. Car went back to the dealership and they did a forced regen. Now two months later the same light has come back on. Is this reasonable? I get the principle that short journeys are not helping but should this be happening so soon again? It has probably done only over 150 miles since the same issue in January. Don’t really want to be dealing with this so regularly.

My guess is a faulty sensor. No point the dealer forcing a purge and resetting the warning light. They should be fixing the problem! I would just drive it with the light on until some other symptom occurs.
It’s due a second service very soon, will phone dealer and mention it.
Car was noticeably “chuggy” when increasing speed and going up through the gears. Did not feel right at all
Sounds like a typical Kia, promises the earth yet in reality not so good, if you have given it a good run as advised, it should clear..
Personally I would just under red line it, whilst holding gears, (manual mode if auto)

Are you doing long enough journeys for regular passive regens to take place?
Try taking it on a quite A road or dual carriageway in 3rd gear and keep the revs over 2500rpm for 20mins and try not stop, hence quite road. That may clear it if its not fully blocked.
Well, on my partner’s car happened the same issue (Kia Sportage diesel, 2018 and currently under 20k miles on the clock).
While she was driving, the light came on (in yellow). She took it to a garage and they mentioned the DPF cleaning.
I’ve made the drive for 30miles at an average of 3000rpm (60mph in 4th gear) and the light persists.
At the garage they already change a sensor (the temperature one I think) and the light is still there. ?
Then I used my OBD reader ( caught a few codes related) and tried to clear the DTC’s but after a few seconds the infamous light came again.
So I’m afraid that I have to change some other parts.
Now I’m thinking on the “particulate matter sensor” prior to consider the actual “particulate filter” just because of the price and labor (while the “missus” already wants the car gone… ?)
The funny part is that is relating to glow plugs in one of the cylinders…
Any suggestions or a different approach on this matter would be highly regarded.

I have a 2022 Kia Sportage petrol 2400 mile filter light on for the second time Travelled for one hour along the motorway then one hour back again at 60 to 70 mph never in 6th gear Warning light still on Now booked in at dealers Kia must sort this out It really does drive you mad
