Popped into the Kia dealer this afternoon and had a quick look at the EV3, their demonstrator was the GT S model (a bit too complicated for us), we both loved the vehicle especially the AP £799, subject to a test it may be on our short list.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

The EV3 ICCU issue, as I see it, is still an issue but does come with a solution.
Charging at a full 7.4kW can cause the ICCU to ‘trip’ where it drops the charge rate to trickle. Apparently, stopping the charge and trying later can resolve this once it’s tripped but I’ve seen no clarity on how much later really is. What is clear is that charging at 90% of full rate avoids the whole problem.
There is no sign of the EV5 having any issues with the ICCU, although it’s not been out for long.

I have used the UK forums, some posting claims February/March 2026 model still having issues, to be honest it is putting off the EV3, but the wife likes the look of the vehicle as opposed to the Toyota C-HR+

Perhaps your caravan is telling you something?
We are away in 3 weeks time in the touring caravan, I need to see how the wife is in the caravan after her accident/illness before Christmas, we are going to look at static caravan sites with view to renting or a permanent storage and seasonal caravan pitch in the New Forest.

As far as I’m aware, the EV4 doesn’t.
The Integrated Charging Control Units (ICCUs) issue isn’t new across Hyundai/Kia/Genesis range and dates back to 2021/22. In some cases its caused by a MOSFET transistor.
Kia launched a TSB last year for a firmware update and where necessary a replacement ICCU for the EV3. Dealers were replacing the ICCU and not updating the firmware, which led to ongoing issues.
I’m shocked they haven’t been sued!

I have ASD and thus have difficulty with social and understanding information, written and verbal. I process information in logical blocks, before I reply. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.

Static may not be such a bad idea, given the circumstances, if you can find a nice site that doesn’t charge the earth to rent.

We popped into the Kia dealers this morning and basically asked the about the Kia EV3 AC charging problems, according to them it is the first they have heard, to date they have not received a single problem, I pointed out Kia has a patch repair update, they went bright read and denied all knowledge of any updates.
There was a recall for the EV3 to replace the ICCU and update software on the new unit, so they are fully aware, as it was on the governments recall page. You are best asking one of the lads in the garage rather than lying sales dept.
