Popped into the Kia dealer this afternoon and had a quick look at the EV3, their demonstrator was the GT S model (a bit too complicated for us), we both loved the vehicle especially the AP £799, subject to a test it may be on our short list.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

If they didnt mention, as the demonstrator was the gt line s, the other ones dont have a surround camera on them nor electric boot, the boot i understand alot of adaptations specialist can addon but only if the car has a kit.
Regarding the surround camera, the size of the ev3 is similar to my old ID.4 not having surround cameras became killer on it especially as I have dyspraxia and getting into tight spots was difficuit.

I can live without a 360 degree camera, quite happy with the standard front and rear cameras, and given a £2,200 price difference I can find my way to open the boot manually.

Its a great car. It might be worth looking at the mini countryman though as well that’s got a pretty good advance price on it.

I understand from @MFillingham the boot lids on the EVx’s are composite and therefore light.
You won’t go wrong with Kia and importantly they retain physical buttons so your not diving deep into menu’s to turn functions on and off, including lane assist and speed assist. Having regen paddles rather than adaptive or menu based settings also makes life easier.
April 2, 2026 at 1:55 pm #350750Has the Kia ev3 air got sat nav and folding mirrors ?

April 2, 2026 at 6:33 pm #350779Look on the Kia EV3 forum, you can buy a space saver complete with jack and tools for £185, I don’t like not having a spare wheel, I hate that gunk kit, it fit perfectly in the boot floor well.

Kezo at the moment I am struggling to communicate or hold a conversation with strangers, I have asked the wife to take over all negotiation as regard which way to go with the car, she advised me to get rid of the caravan and buy a small reliable EV, the EV3 seems to tick all our boxes.
As regards EV chargers, we already have a 7 kWh Podpoint so a simple fix, do Mobility give you any EV charger choice if you pay the difference.

I had an old BP PodPoint from 2021.
I ordered an Enyaq in Q1, and had the Podpoint replaced with an Ohme Pro Charger.
I believe Motability only supply Ohme chargers. Correct me if i’m wrong,I have ASD and thus have difficulty with social and understanding information, written and verbal. I process information in logical blocks, before I reply. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.
I also have a corneal visual condition, which makes me visually impaired without daytime, or daytime bulbs, among other disabilities/conditions.April 2, 2026 at 7:01 pm #350786Kezo at the moment I am struggling to communicate or hold a conversation with strangers, I have asked the wife to take over all negotiation as regard which way to go with the car, she advised me to get rid of the caravan and buy a small reliable EV, the EV3 seems to tick all our boxes. Sorry to hear that.
You get the choice of Ohme or Ohme of which your Podpoint is better, but if you want cheaper Intelligent tariff, you could have the Ohme pro (or untehered epod) and keep your Podpont as a spare. If you don’t like the Ohme you can sell it and put your Podpoint back.

I have heard the Ohme Pro is pants poorly made junk, I suppose it will do for now if and when it fails I can get a sparky to change it for a better model. It a shame Octopus don’t reconise Podpoint.

April 2, 2026 at 9:20 pm #350798I’ve got an Ohme charger and it’s always failing. They are due to come out again soon to fix it but I know it will work for a few weeks before it breaks down again.
April 2, 2026 at 9:37 pm #350800I’ve had no issues with Ohme myself , after almost 3 years of ownership. Although alot of people don’t like the fact the Ohme Epod doesn’t lock the cable into the charger so beware if you get one.
April 2, 2026 at 9:40 pm #350801Its not a brand, I install!
But, having it fitted in place of the Podpoint, does mean you can sell it on nearly new, along with your Podpoint and get a Zappi, Wallbox, Hypervolt, Indra, Simpson & Partners compatible charger.
April 3, 2026 at 7:18 am #350811I believe despite poor quality design and unit, the sealed unit is not that waterproof, a tube of clear gutter all weather sealant around the rear base should in theory minimise the problem.

April 3, 2026 at 8:05 am #350813KIA are kind enough to have tailgates that are really light to open and close. Even opening an electric EV9 tailgate manually wasn’t even remotely hard work and that’s as big as they get.
Like many others my Ohme charger has been perfectly functioning even through all the recent storms.

April 11, 2026 at 9:00 pm #353049Kezo has Kia fixed their AC charging problem yet, I have read online owner complaining only receiving their EV3 2/3 days ago and still experiencing AC problems, owner reverting to granny leads.

April 12, 2026 at 9:43 am #353067I wasn’t aware of this problem and thanks for highlighting this issue
As the EV3 was in my top 2 picks for my next months order
If this issue is not resolved by may 31st then the 300+HP Countryman it is
Call me cynical if you want but could this be from what I now understand to be a long running issue and could that be why for example the EV3 have such a low AP
Wider discussions by big bucks CEO Miller imo may well be needed when any manufacturer who is having know long running and well documented in this case KIA charging issues
And why after being made aware of the ramifications of these crucial issues to users are the manufacturers still to date being allowed to continue to churn out in this case low KIA AP LEASES to the most vulnerable lease users VIA MOTORBILITY without any challenge or threat of removal
There seems to be no care or oversight from Miller/Motorbility when it comes to policing such matters
The following link explains the issue in some detail if others like us are also concerned
Kia has not fully resolved the AC charging issues affecting their E-GMP platform vehicles (EV6, EV9, and newer EV3) as of early 2026
April 12, 2026 at 10:56 am #353071Kezo the man to speak to he is up all all these matters, there was posting in February on this site as regards the matter, several new owner on forums are still complaining several being left without a vehicle for months. I need to do some further investigation Hyundai/Kia hide their head in the sand as regards the Tuscon/Sportage issues, does not look good.

Cheers for that
Now I have been made aware of this issue
I will not need/seek anymore help as this issue will not be resolved by the end of next month
In fact now I am aware and understand how long this issue across Kia models continues to go on
I will as things stand be taking the smart approach and I will not be touching a Kia with a barge pole for at least another 3yrs
My next lease is my last motorbility lease ( escaped vat by the skin of my teeth and most other changes
But if the Black Box heads my way it will also be my shortest lease
Love Kia and a future private purchase once/if issues are resolved is something I would always consider

The charging issue was not across the board on the EV3 and affected 2024 early 2025 cars. I was under the impression car with issues got software updates and ultimately new ICCU’s.
