Why is the Kia EV AP so low, compared to the more realistic EV3 AP, the Hyundai Kona EV is higher than both ?
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

As always, it will be down to the deals that manufacturers are prepared to offer at any given time, which vary considerably by brand, model and even model variants within. As an example, a car that I am considering privately currently has no manufacturer funded discount on 2 of the 4 engine variants, £750 off the 3rd and £3,000 off the 4th!
Also, I know that most folk on this forum only look at APs, as if that’s the only cost to them, completely ignoring the far more significant cost of the £12k sacrificed benefits (if on PIP) or £13.5k if on WPMS, both of which are by far the main part of the lease cost. Therefore, as an example, someone looking at the AP in isolation on two cars, one with an AP of £500 and another costing £2,000, may think that one is four times the cost (or 400% more) than the other. In reality, when you add in the major cost to us of the lease, one car is costing £12,500 and the other £14,000 – a difference of 12%, not 400%. Quite some difference!

I hope my reply might help a little. The dealer advised me that the EV4s are built in Europe rather than Korea as the others are. No idea if thats true and whether thats the reason but I agree, its an absolute steal. Usually its a run out model that priced ‘low’ but here its a new model. I would advise its a bargain compared to everything else and if you are umming and ahhing, just go for it. I doubt there will be such bargains going forwards.
I’m off to the Kia Dealer in the morning before they change their minds!
January 2, 2026 at 5:12 pm #325900That would make sense (the EV4 being European built) as opposed to a Korean built & shipped K4. I say that because the petrol versions of the K4 (of which I would be interested in) are quite pricey as regards AP.
I’m not due to change for a while yet though (14-months) so not concerned about AP’s just yet and anyway, new cars are coming in 2026 like the all-new Peugeot 208 and the beautiful new Renault Clio 1.8 full hybrid which will both be on my shortlist come early next year. The biggest downer of all though is the fact that the stunning new Honda Prelude hybrid won’t be coming to the scheme because it’s classed as a coupe. A real shame that – because it is stunning… and a hybrid… but the ‘free cars for the disabled’ brigade have won out on that one – sadly.
January 2, 2026 at 5:19 pm #325902Also, it’s an easy way to flood the market with a new model so that people see them on the roads etc. probably cheaper than TV advertising.
You see it with lease deals on new models sometimes – they offer crazy prices that don’t even cover the depreciation, but they will have built a load and want to get them into public view.
January 3, 2026 at 2:53 am #325910EV3 is rather well established the EV5 looks similar enough that people will believe there’s a good number on the road but there’s no EV4s around and not many EV6s.
If I’m going to get my car seen on the road I’m going to give a lease company the deal to get some out there in a hurry. I suspect KIA are doing similar and prices will increase next quarter to something nearer EV3 levels.
There’s also a likelihood that Motability would expect a KIA EV to hold its value better as has the Niro (given all new cars drop horrendously) which will reflect in the APs too.

January 3, 2026 at 4:19 pm #325961If anyone is interested in the EV4
Kia , Stockton in the North East are doing the Air with Nil AP saving you the £299
Just seen the add on FB
January 4, 2026 at 12:46 pm #325969Arnold Clark also doing the EV4 Air for £0.
January 12, 2026 at 3:35 pm #331508My son test drove an EV4 on Saturday as I need hand controls, so I was in the passenger seat.
My goodness. its absolutely incredible! The rise is serene, it was agile and directly responsive to the steering and had bags of room and poke. And a realistic range of 300 plus miles. The ridiculously low AP makes it the bargain of the quarter by a long distance.
My only concern is that a push pull hand control has no space amongst all the stalks and flaps on the right of the steering wheel! And it’s too new for any supplier to confirm if they can fit one, yet.
I’ll order and just wait till they come up with a solution.

January 12, 2026 at 5:02 pm #331514Test drove the EV4 GT-Line on 2nd Jan and ordered one in Wolf Grey on the 3rd. Really nice cabin, feels quite a bit more grown up and refined than the 2023 Pre-facelift Kona EV we’re coming from. It’s a no brainer if you’re looking for an EV that’s not a small SUV or prefer a lower hatchback style car and don’t need/want the extra toys offered in the GT-Line S trim. Loads of passenger room and a decent boot (bigger than the Kona’s!). Kia have just announced the GT version but wouldn’t expect to see that on the scheme.
Salesman admitted the AP was likely so low currently as they hadn’t really sold many (car only launched in November and I don’t think it’s had the same marketing oomph put behind it as the EV3 got.) I still haven’t see one on the road yet!
January 12, 2026 at 8:15 pm #331522I am test driving the EV4 tomorrow, I will also look at the EV3. I have the car for 2 hours, so I should get a good feel for it. Hopefully it stays at this AP until I can place an order in the last week of March!

You should be ok, Q2 only starts 1st April.
I have ASD and thus have difficulty with social and understanding information, written and verbal. I process information in logical blocks, before I reply. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.
I also have a corneal visual condition, which makes me visually impaired without daytime, or daytime bulbs, among other disabilities/conditions.January 12, 2026 at 10:02 pm #331531Its a steal…hope all goes well and you like the test drive!
January 13, 2026 at 6:43 pm #332204Test drive went well today, very smooth drive and it glides over pot holes!
Easy access, bags of room in the rear, I am 6”4 and still lots of room behind my seat. Tech is on point and 388 miles with a fair wind and a warm day.As previously stated, it’s a steal! This will be my third EV and definitely a couple of notches above my previous vehicles. I for one will be ordering later in Q1.

January 14, 2026 at 8:43 am #332213if you dont need the higher driving position its good value esp with that range.
not sure about the looks.
January 14, 2026 at 11:20 am #332230@mitch, I found the seating position to be ok, seat lowered and still plenty of headroom. Being on the tall side normally gives me a elevated driving position😂
January 14, 2026 at 11:48 am #332232The seating in the EV4 is relatively low compared to modern SUV’s however its still very accessible and multi adjustable. Its certainly not a low down driving position like the cars pre Chelsea tractors.
