Just ordered new car!

I’ve finally ordered my new car today.  I was torn between the mini countryman and the qashqai.  Loved the mini and all its toys but the economy was pretty dire in it.  Took a Qashqai out and it felt more solid somehow and was more economical for sure.  Debated whether to wait until Jan when the new prices come out, but figured if I did, with my luck the price would have increased so I took the plunge and did it today.

Good for you, I’m sure you will be very pleased with it. Have they given you any idea of timescales? We are in very uncertain times and so it’s nice to see a bold decision. My luck would have been the same as yours and I tend to dither and then regret it.

My understanding unless you collect your vehicle before 31st December, you can cancel your agreement if the AP increases in January.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

            I’m not sure that’s true.

The salesman reckoned it would be here in time for my new lease which will be 17th March.  It’s due in about the 12th or smthg he said.

irrelevant if the price goes up 1st jan its locked at todays price. some dealers will if the price goes down cancel and reorder at the lower price. mine did when i ordered the juke it went down the next quarter and he did it withot being asked. i cant order uuntil 28 feb so i am sweating on 1st jan prices.

Apparently motab have banned this from happening now according to the salesman but not sure if he was fibbing or not!

It’s true that Motability don’t like dealers doing it, but all decent ones will. It makes not a penny difference to the amount that the dealer earns from the car. As my BMW dealer said to me when the AP dropped just £150 the quarter after I ordered “that £150 is better in your pocket than Motability’s” (I hadn’t even asked them to do it as it was such a small amount, so I was very impressed).

It’s less than 5 minutes on the computer for the salesperson and doesn’t affect the actual order (some lazy sods will say that they will have to cancel the order and re-order and it will cause a delay to you receiving the car – this is completely untrue. The actual vehicle order is between the dealer and the manufacturer and is unaffected. They don’t touch that. All they do is cancel and re enter at the lower AP on the Motability portal).

I ordered my next motability car ( Ford Capri EV ) the advance payment was just £245 when I ordered on the 29th July  .Thankfully this is tied in as I wait ( already 10 weeks over date ) the new upfront payment has jumped to a whopping £4,345 ! a near 18 fold increase. At this rate my next “car” will be a scooter .

I just ordered an MG HS Hybrid + to replace the one I’ve had for the last three years.

That’s epic. (the price, not the wait!!)

Current car: MG HS Exclusive in nice shiny black. 🙂

I’ve just ordered a replacement for my MG HS which has been so good, I ordered another one. And at a bargain AP of £365.

                          HS Hybrid+?

Well done, perhaps daft not to given you have had no problems with the last one and it looks totally different to the last anyway:-)

                            Yes, the Hybrid +.

That was my thinking. I was running around looking at all these new cars when I suddenly realised that I was quite happy with what I was driving (odd foibles apart!) and with the new one supposedly being a step up and available at an absolutely bargain price, why mess about?

@DougieB, enroute to visit my sister and drop off pressies etc this afternoon i popped into eric stead the sheffield mg dealer to have a nosy and i was impressed with both the hs and the zs. the trophy has electric adj seats etc so i think the zs will warrant a test drive in the new year.

can you turn off any of the bings and bongs dougie? £115 ap for the trophy zs hybrid+ is pretty good.

lets hope it only reduces in the new year.lol

Yes – however, the likes of speed limit assist, it needs to be turned off everytime you start the car, which is due to european GSR2 rather than actual manufacturers. See @ajn ‘s MG threads.
