My car is in for its first Mot today and was given a Audi A3 Saloon, nice car but too low down for me long term
Was feeling peckish on my way home so pulled in for a roll and sausage, numpty behind me right up my backside, I got a bit flustered and I kerbed my front left alloy ???
It’s strange going into a different car one that’s lower down with different mirrors, viewing perspective etc
One of Scotlands best wheel refurbers is local to me thankfully and they quoted me only 50 bucks to refurb the alloy so not too bad, wanted to get a quote incase Audi hit me with some crazy repair bill
I’ll go and clean it up a bit later before handing it back at 5 tonight
It’s a managers car so keep your fingers crossed he’s in a rush home tonight and kerbs it again before noticing my handy work lol

Or in the words of Bart Simpson “it was like it when I came here”.
March 25, 2019 at 2:01 pm #73223Haha, this is my plan! although as soon as you arrive at the service entrance a wee guy jumps out takes pics of the car and then drives it off to the car park
So it’s bound to get noticed, but I’ll just do what I do best, play dumb ?

Make melonade!March 25, 2019 at 2:19 pm #73225I had my car collected for service one time and they kerbed my totally unmarked alloy, they denied all knowledge of course.
Don’t sweat the small stuff and deny everything 😉

March 25, 2019 at 2:33 pm #73226Did they never fix it for you in the end?
Last year I collected my car after a service and noticed a a few big scratches on the front splitter right away, all the white paint had been removed down to the black plastic
At first I thought it was few big tar splodges but after a close inspection I realised someone had been playing wacky races, and lost! Lol
Anyways they checked all the photos as cars are always photographed before driven off and they agreed it must have been their fault and painted the full front bumper
Let’s hope the photographer is on a toilet break when I go back. Later lol

Make melonade!March 25, 2019 at 2:41 pm #73228No they didn’t do anything.
Nor did they take photos either, good idea though.

JamesI should of guest!
i wouldn’t worry too much about the wheel, but did you sign any paperwork regarding damages and excesses, I once had a wheel refurbed at a jaguar dealer and it was silly money!
March 25, 2019 at 4:29 pm #73246I’m not worrying too much, I won’t be the first or last person to scuff a wheel in a courtesy car, obv some people would never commit such a crime ?
Yeah you always sign a £500 excess for damage etc, but it’s only superficial and local specialist quoted 50 bucks to refurb the full wheel so if it comes to that then so be it I’ll pay it as it was my mistake
Looking at the alloy closer though it looks like there is a couole of dings at the bottom of it which wouldnt be caused by me
So we shall see what they say, I’ll. Post an update when I have one
I don’t think I need to pack my bags and flee the country just yet ?

Thanks for that ?
I’ve had a stay of execution for another 24 hours as my car isn’t ready yet
So I’m going to take a drive to my fav Chinese takeaway and make sure I park about a foot away from the kerb ?

JamesDon’t park too far away from the kerb because you’ll come out with your Chinese and the wing mirror will be on the floor!

Make melonade!March 27, 2019 at 8:45 pm #73495Indeed, was totally unacceptable. There is no place on the forum for people like that.
March 27, 2019 at 8:52 pm #73496Agreed ?
Plenty of room for that on FB
Thankfully I don’t see any of that nonsense

EmmaMy son has just kerbed his courtesy car. He had to swerve to miss a car that was coming at him over the white line, is it likely he will be charged, he can’t blame anyone else as the car was brand new with only 3 miles on the clock when he was given it, he don’t have a dash cam to prove it wasn’t his fault, we’re just trying to work out if it’s worth him getting the wheel referbed or take the bill from the hire company, bearing in mind his insurance are paying for the hire of courtesy car
March 16, 2020 at 11:15 am #109444If you let them sort it you are likely to get charged for a new wheel (not saying that will be the case but it has been known) or at least for them to have it repaired which will be very expensive.
I personally would see if you can have it done locally as you can usually get it done for £25-£50 and then nobody is the wiser and the car is restored to new.
