It’s June now, so I thought I’d post a wish in the somewhat optimistic hope that something can be done (as if they’ll listen to little old me).

Electric SUVs – last quarter both the Enyaq and Ariya dropped considerable in price and have added higher models either then or later.  This is a great model going forward.  If the Mustang Mach-E, Q4 and Ioniq 5 all follow suit then the offerings on the scheme will be spectacular.

If we can see some correlation between prices that’d be great.  The megane is £36 to £41k and has an AP up to £2450. The Enyaq  The Q4 is £49,915 and is 3 times as much.  The Mach E is £50,750 and is 3 times as much.  So that’s a retail price difference of £8-15k and the AP difference of over £5,000.  It doesn’t make sense if the Mach-e Select comes down to something around £5 -6.5k that leaves room above that for the longer range or the higher model.  Likewise those others currently representing themselves as far more ‘premium’ to Motability customers than retail and, presumably, other fleet and lease customers maybe need to rethink this strategy.

I'm Autistic, if I say something you find offensive, please let me know, I can guarantee it was unintentional.

Stupid Edit function! why can’t we have longer? Some of us have wonky brains that take longer to work!!! Anyway, What I was going to add is that I’ve emailed Ford UK and asked them to confirm Synce4 will be fitted. Not bothered about the light bar above the grill or other cosmetic tweaks.

I would not worry about the SYNC4, just been on the Kuga forum as regards the engine fire not fix before Q4 October, one owner has just gone to the dealers to pick up their car, but the dealer cannot release it?.

I was given 10th October when I ordered my Kuga in last month

@wmc Thank you so much ?

It takes me several read throughs of my posts to spot all the mistakes I make nowadays.  Had a brain MRI Friday tea time so may finally get to the bottom of  it.  It’s only taken 3 years since the car accident to get one!.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I has been 18 years now since my brain injury, unfortunately is does not get any better reading and writing is very difficult and  exhausting, I now have an IQ of an average 8 year old , I have a BSc and a Masters Degree, now just a paper decoration.

At least I can still drive my when I have asked specialist they  assure me driving use a different part of the brain the subconscious.

I know its difficult but at least you are alive.

Indeed, much better than the altrnative ?

Can’t believe it’s taken 3yrs to get to see a cardiologist and an meurologist, both telling me I should have been on meds since day one of the accident.  Now have some long term valve damage etc. hopefully thec2 new meds will help.

Solicitors filed court documents last week and reckon it shouldvbe sorted in the next few months so at least the kids will have something left forvtem.

Note. the above is how I post, only finding the more obvious errors while I type, Ibhavevtovre-Read it several times to get them all ?

I don’t have a brain injury, I have an iQ of 150 and I still make obvious mistakes when posting that I just don’t see until later, don’t worry about it, most folks understand on here and it’s surprising how your brain manages to make sense of mistakes and lets you understand the original intent.

I’m hoping we’ll see some better spec’d vehicles come on to the scheme rather than all these basic models we seem to be getting lumbered with at high AP’s.

MFillungton, re Teslas, yes, the insurance is higher, due to people buying them and pranging them in the first few weeks, but my understanding is the Motability insurance is a group insurance, not individual cars/drivers.

re the service centres poor, Tesla actually-y send engineers out to your home/work to carry out servicing/minor repairs.

Mist other manufacturers are reducing their service centres as they go towards the Agency framework

I wasn’t aware they send the mechanics out, thank for that information.  The nearest centre to deepest, darkest Cornwall is Bristol, for most of us that’s a trek, it’d be a nightmare if we had to get broken cars there.

I’m hoping we’ll see some better spec’d vehicles come on to the scheme rather than all these basic models we seem to be getting lumbered with at high AP’s.

I agree, there’s a lot of base spec cars for near 8 grand.  However, if the 8 grand mark is their ceiling for APs, then there’s either going to have to be some epic negotiation happening or prices will have to stabilise for a predicted end of term value to raise significantly.

An example I’d like to use (and see happen) would be the Enyaq.  Originally on for an eye watering 7 grand drops to £5,500 then becomes £3,999-£5249 or thereabouts.  That leaves space for the Sportline Plus to join at much nearer 7-8 grand or for Motability to provide for a base 60 or 80 with a pack added (which would cost £2755) for less than £2,755 more.

The example that’s happened is the Ariya, originally just the 63kwh Advance model (since the packs were removed and prices dropped from £9000+) now you can get the Advance in both 63 and 87kWh versions and the Evolve in 63kWh.  That allows for the choice between extended range or better equipment, something that seems a reasonable set of choices.

I think we need a wider range of german cars back on the scheme, BMW, Audi are only offering their smallest or unpopular cars, it would be great to see the 2/3 series and Audi A4/Q3 back with their higher spec. Also Mustang Mach E select is not worth it at all, the spec given is hideous.

I had an email exchange with Barry at Nissan Motability. I was enquiring whether the Tekna spec of X Trail will appear in Q3.

Barry advised that the E-Power Tekna won’t as it doesn’t meet the criteria that Motability set. These days the goal posts seem to move around that much I’ve no idea what that even means to be fair ?? ?

He did comment that he is sure the Mild Hybrid will be considered for the creation of their Q3 campaign, but would be dependant on supply of specific models.

In hoping for a bigger car with generous boot space and a reversing camera for a reasonable Ap.

We have a mitsubishi outlander at the moment and if we can’t get the above will have to consider keeping it.

Looking and hoping that we’ll see an SUV big enough to take a wheelchair in the boot at close to £1000 advance payment (Hopefully at a dealer less than 2 hours away).  Not holding my breath though.

I would love to know what those goal posts are, I’m not convinced it’s worth us knowing though as they’ll be different by next month.

If we can have the Ioniq6 and 5, the Mach E then hopefully KIA will wake up and let us near the EV6.

Personally, I’d like to see higher specifications of the Enyaq (there’s range in the budget) a drop in AP and additions of both Mach E (unlikely given it’s inflated retail price) and Q4 and the (re)introduction of Volvo’s EVs to the scheme in more than base spec.

I’ve just decided its pointless trying to figure out what these supposed hurdles are, because over the years when i’ve asked people in the know to explain em, I then immediately see examples that don’t seem to synch with the explanations.

So just gonna wait ‘n see what comes along.

I’m interested to see what happens with the next Kodiaq, and whether, like the Karoq, we see the Sportline join the scheme, even if only fleetingly. Looks very smart ?

When you look at the retail prices of some of the cars on the scheme there is no reason the XT Tecna trim can’t join and be with in the so called goal posts.

Therefore what I think Barry was skirting around saying was either, Nissan are selling enough capacity of Tecna trims retail and/or Motability won’t agree to the price Nissan wants for it to join the scheme!

The biggest problem is “we” aren’t getting a honest answer on whats going on!

As your aware Ive been waiting for the Tecna trim to join since Q1 and will have to make my mind up where Im going this next quarter.

@MFilingham Theres no reason the EV6 didn’t make a show when the Ioniq 5 did. The problem is Hyundai/Kia’s new bread of cars for the past 2 to 3 years are now up there with most of the mainstream market and are no longer a dependable budget manufacturer, we go use to seeing on the scheme year upon year.

Personally I dn’t think the scheme will ever recover to what it was prior the pandemic and certainly not to its former self . We will be stuck with the majority of entry level cars no one wants or end of model specials just to get rid of them..

The new Vauxhall Astra electric saw its global launch this week at a whopping 49% premium to the equivulent ICE version. How the hell can anyone say its cheaper motoring when the majority of British puplic wouldn’t recoup the additional outlay over their ownership. Yet companies like Stellantis and Renault have no intention of reducing prices, as they are use to the over inflated of the pandemic. At the same time other companies have started to see reductions.

Battery manufacturers have said the price per kWh of battery has fallen to $100 or below in 2023 from $137 last year and will continue to drop. Realistically an EV should cost little more than that of an equivulent ICE and certainly not £40K for an entry level Astra!

The world has gone mad lol.

In terms of price cap, I understand that’s an AP of £8,000 in terms of a retail price, with a few exceptions I feel that £50,000 seems to be the right point.  However, there are cars slightly over that retail that can still get under the AP cap and cars under the retail that simply won’t allow Motability the kind of value where they can achieve the AP.

Sadly, for large BEVs, £50,000 doesn’t go very far.  However, I can see that the limits are necessary as very few people will be able to stump up £8,000+ every 3 years cash, the scheme doesn’t want members to finance the AP, that’s contradictory to why they provide cars, so there’s a bit of a problem with these high AP vehicles.

one hope is the return of the Sportage auto and another hope is that the new  Renault austral AP comes down – less pushing the full electric agenda – I think it’ll be interesting to see how many of the emerging  Chinese models come onto the scheme (although these are major players in china / far east – no china  banging please,  as most of what you own is either made in or has components from china) following the contently on/off Ora Cat.  It’ll also be interesting to see if AP’s begin to stabilise more and if component/logistics improve going forward too, as the chip shortage, components etc.. is wearing thin
