Having just picked up my new motability Car yesterday. The BMW X2 Sport 2.0i S drive Auto Petrol. I thought I would do a topic on the car.

So I have chosen the The BMW X2 Sport 2.0i S drive Auto Petrol. Plus Extras. The Sport pack. In Mineral White metallic.

I first ordered the car February 2019 and picked it on the 22nd of June 2019. Yes it took a little longer than expected. This was mainly due to a shortage of Engines. ( BMW are a Just in time car maker. ) as such there is no stock pile of cars sat waiting to ship. This is not a bad thing IMHO, as it means your car has not been sat in a muddy field for months waiting to be ordered.

    Rear

The dealership was Stratstones BMW Doncaster. The hand over of my previous motability car and paper work for the BMW went very smoothly. In all, it took less than an hour before I drove away.

I was quite surprised when the staff took me to my new car. It was not outside in the car park, but inside the showroom. It was all covered up and then revealed with a swish of the black cover. Hey presto! one beautiful white BMW X 2.

It was all a bit surreal. All that was missing was Procol Harum’s a White shade of pale playing in the back ground.

We skipped the light fandango. Turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor ( I wish) I was feeling kind a seasick
But the crowd called out for more. You get the picture by now, Right?
So once the cartwheels were done I sat in the car. Wow!  wait. This nothing like the X2 I test drove. It was so much more. Full digital dash and display. Ambient lighting. The sports steering wheel and centre consol were all so much better looking than the test car.  I was well chuffed to say the least.
So there she stood on her 19 inch stilettos oops Alloys. Truly a site to behold. So select drive and off I go with a rather silly grin on my face.

I think that’ll come shortly in the new 1 series to compete with MBenz. Bmw have always been on the meagre side with the bells & whistles. Joss, is it to early to get an idea on the fuel consumption yet? hope it’s driving well

It is a bit early Dutchy to be honest. I have not really had the chance to do a run yet, just mainly local stuff at the moment.

Driving in ECO Pro mode I am averaging 29.4 mpg

Nice looking car on the outside. No doubt that interior is quality (being a BMW), but I wish the designers would improve the somewhat dull and uninspiring cabin which, in my view, is long overdue for a serious redesign.

In all honesty solent60 I find the cabin to be very nice compared to the Ford Focus Titanium I had previously.

Congratulations Joss. She looks gorgeous. I hope that you enjoy. I have an X1 and, after 1 & 1/2 years am still loving it. Entry/Exit is hugely important to me and the X1 fits the bill perfectly. Happy Travels

Bionic Rusty thank you. I am really pleased with her. The drive is amazingly smooth and oh so quite. The auto box is brill, you just don’t feel the gear changes. It just pulls away so smoothly. So much more to discover.

A lot of commenters say the drive is harsh with the 19″ wheels. I find it firm but definitely not harsh. One thing that is bothering me is the lack of any seat belt adjustment. That is to say the height over the shoulder.  It rubs my neck. That is probably due to my body shape. But  a car of that spec should have adjustment.

hi Joss, in Rusty’s original post he put a normal smiley, but it seems when quoted it comes out very large lol.

for now I’ve just removed it, but I’m sure @wmcforum wouldn’t mind looking in to it.

It seems to happen sometimes when qoutes are used, I’ve always thought it’s people adding it, it must be the combination of what buttons are pressed, I’ve just Edited your post and nothing was visible but I i back spaced your sentence after the quote then re put in a space and the big smiley face dissapeared.

    1. Joss, I have to be honest, I didn’t get the adaptive damping and I regret it. In the X1 I do find the ride a little harsh and I feel it in my pelvis and spine. However, it’s not awful.

And I agree about the seat belt. This is the first car I’ve had for years with no height adjustment. Although I bet we need it for different reasons! I’m pretty short but I’ve learned to live with it.

This is an emoji free reply!

    Haha

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it?

    Nice car!

I wanted to buy BMW X2 Coupe SUV last year.

But I’m satisfied with my small but good at parking Skoda for now.

Ford Focus Titanium I is that bad? I wonder.

Oo-er sorry folks I have not been getting any emails to notify me post have been added to my thread.

@Dutchy. Still not managed to get on a long run. Just mainly local stuff.  According to the Car gizmo I am averaging 30.9 to the gallon. That is in Eco pro mode mainly. Though I must confess to the brief slip into warp factor mode now and then. So all things considered its not to bad at 30.9 mpg

@trev I bet the black toenail is from Blind Pew lol

Copied over from a reply to an other post.

Getting there Mike. Currently getting 33mph on mainly local driving. Under Eco Pro mode there is a cruise option where an icon illuminates on the dash clocks

What does that actually mean? Imagine you’re approaching a roundabout but it’s over a blind hill. Eco Pro knows the roundabout is coming up and it knows how fast you’re going.

So it can calculate the best time to lift off the gas and coast up to the roundabout in the most efficient manner, rather than leaning on the anchors once you brow the hill. And so a little lift-off icon appears in that LCD instrument panel when the time is right.

In my car, BMW has also implemented a special coasting mode which fully decouples the engine from the transmission and makes for much, much more efficient coasting. In certain situations, it’s enough to improve fuel efficiency by a staggering 20 per cent over the official EU cycle numbers.

So it’s little things that are available to the driver to aid economy. It is just learning about them and how to use them. There are just so many things to play with like this.  The more you learn how the technology works the better the driving experience..

    Donkey Oatie

Glad to see you are enjoying your X2. I have had an X1 for 30 moths now. The seatbelt thing annoys, not just me but Jeremy Clarkson (in another model) Why cant BMW fix this. the big wheels are a bad idea for where we live poor country roads make the ride harsh and unsettled. Great on smooth main roads, I just have to drive 10 miles to reach one!!

Absolutely loving the car Donkey Oatie. The more I find out what does what the better it becomes. I do like my tech. But yes the seat belt is a big issue for me also. 5’8″ tall and short legs don’t help. Still it’s such a basic thing to have an adjustable should height in this day and age.

I have the sport and also the sport plus pack so 19″ wheels. I find them OK but then I don’t have back problems.

    Calling BMW X1 X2 drivers.

I can’t find any setting for speed camera alerts in the satnav system.

Any one know if there is a setting? I seem to think not.
