        That looks very Heath Robinson.

Dont get too hung up about home charging. In a few short years EV charging will be similar to filling a car up with fuel today. Its getting there.

I plug the Ioniq in a fast charger and go from 20 to 80%. By the time i.ve walked the 20m to Starbucks and ordered my coffee, its at 80 % by the time i ve sat down.

I get it that people cant see ahead, they only see what there is today and think nothing is going to change. Instead of hardening of the arteries, I call it hardening of the neurons. As people age, their thoughts become entrenched.

The transition from ICE  to EV is huge and with it comes invention…unfortunately there are no entrepreneurs or investment  in the UK. China and US are the leaders. What a waste for the UK.

Not only does that look hideous, the amount of local kids that would be swimming off them, means they will practically broken almost all the time.

The other issue is that guaranteeing getting parked outside exclusively.

Its the adults on the way home from the pub that would be making the most of the “Free Swing”…lol.

Had a conversation about this with my local council when I was enquiring about the KerboCharge.

Their short answer was no, they wouldn’t fit anything that goes overhead on a public footpath due to cables hanging down and the risk of idiots jumping up and trying to swing off it.

If you haven’t already seen the KerboCharge have a look here,  https://www.kerbocharge.com/

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Then hope you live under a forward thinking local authority. Cheap charging shouldn’t be the preserve of the rich.

                  Have a look at KerboCharge:

                  https://www.kerbocharge.com/

I’m sure someone in here said they were in contact with Motability.

Added: Didn’t read enough.  Someone else has suggested.

I’ve been using my KerboCharge gully for almost 3 months now.

Easy to use if you can bend down far enough to feed the cable into it, would be difficult for anyone using a wheelchair though.

It works exactly as it says it does, simple to use and the cable is under the footpath so no tripping hazard at all.

Great to hear it’s working for you.  Also good to know its limitations.

Did you have any problem with the council or were they not even contacted?  Have read somewhere that they are in contact with Motability, it would be good if Motability helped with the cost.

The missus would probably use it to hang her laundry.

Yes, council were fully involved, I found they were doing a trial pilot scheme amd asked to be added to it.

As it’s a public footpath the council are responsible for its upkeep etc. so they had to fit it for me.  Originally wanted £600 but came down to £300 in the end.  The good part is as they supplied and fitted it they’re responsible for looking after it if it ever needs repairing or replacing  🙂
