Do you still get a good condition bonus when having to return the car? I have the glorious PIP review this year and never bank on getting renewals even though my condition hasn’t changed.

It got me thinking, my award us until Feb and return of car is end of March 2027. If they review it and decline to renew the pip mobility I will have to hand the vehicle back before the end of the 3 year term.

I am obviously going to work hard on the renewal form etc but given the approach being taken to essentially target disabled rather than support, I am not holding hopes high for an easy renewal- sad situation but what can one do!

the Good condition bonus would be useful for financing the next vehicle, be that on the scheme or off it.

      Thanks

Not sure about GCB, but you’d get a pro rata refund of the AP.

You should get some GCB if not all, as long as the car is returned in good condition.

I’m pretty sure I read Motability help you financially if PIP is removed, not sure if they still do this but I’m sure they gave you a small grant to help with losing the car, or am I imagining this?

I was forced against my will to leave MB in 2017 after previous attacks on the disabled by are wonderful governments. Back then MB was helping us with a £2k leaving payment because we were unaware of the change in policy of the then government. If you renewed your car after a given date, that I can’t remember what it was now, you would not get that leaving payment because you would be aware of how disrespectful towards the disabled by government had become. Not sure if they help these days if you have to leave due to no fault of your own.

My lease in 2017 just happened to end at the same date I changed from DLA to PIP or not PIP in my case so maybe the DWP planned it that way.

I never got the GCB because of the £2k leaving money and no AP money back because the lease had ended but like kezo said above I think they pay you back the AP on a pro rata basis.

If your pip review is in February you will be lucky to have the results before the car goes back. They are taking a very long time to look at the reviews. If they do say no appeal it, which will give another few months. I know someone that waited 13 months on their review.
