Indeed wmc.
Sean, I have had the Tucson 1.6 petrol manual since March last year. Overall the Tucson is decent and roomy if you regulary have people in the rear seats. There is alot of standard spec on the car – Heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, pamoramic opening roof, leather seats, everything you would wish for really, along with a decent boot area.
My dislikes are:
1- My longterm average fuel consumption is 33 mpg, according to the cars computer. Which is basically made up of 25mpg taking my daughter 6 miles to school in rush hour. 28-32mpg locally outside of rush hour and 40-42 mpg on a long joirney. I’m not the slowest of drivers, so do bare this in mind.
2- As is normal with Korean cars, it does like it bings and bongs – however volume/sensitivity adjustments can be made some what.
3- The touch controls underneath the infotainment screen, can be a bit of a pain to operate, whilst they beep there isn’t haptic feedback. However these only operate the climate control, Nav and track button which can also be done on screen. Thankfully there are real buttons around the gearstick.
4- If I was really beng picky, the engine can sound a bit vocal under quick acceleratin.
General notes.
19″ wheels can be a bit fidgety if you haven’t had them before but, not unlike any other car on similar size rims.
There was an issue with the PPF blocking (thinks diesels DPF), thankfully mine hasn’t done it since last going into the dealers. From what I understand Hyundai/Kia have now sorted this.
There is little in the way of automonous driving – You get cruise control but not adaptive, lane warning assist etc, some of which can be a little sensitive, which I suppose is no different to other vehicles. This doesn’t concern me. Highway Drive Assist (HDA) is limited to the Hybrid 230 and Plug In Hybrid, which gives you more in the way of automonous driving.
I haven’t had an Hyundai since the Elantra many years ago. They have come on leaps and bounds since then. I’d probably have another but in hybrid form and it would have to be auto and not manual, due to my arthritis.
Hope this helps 🙂
November 22, 2023 at 3:05 pm #249407I have the 1.6 poverty model (base model).
As @Kezo said, the engine can be a bit noisy (I thought I’d bought a diesel when I first got in it), but you get used to it.
Headlamps are very poor (Halogen), especially on high beam.
Sat Nav is not the best but useable.
I live in a rural area, so my MPG is around 40-41 mpg according to the cars computer. I’m used to 60 mog, so that figure is still a shock !
Build Quality is great if you get a good mid-week built car, but can be hit and miss if built on a Friday afternoon (most Hyundai’s I’ve had are like that, and I’ve had around five new ones since 2009).
Overall, it’s a good car, and I’d buy / lease again.

I forgot the entry level had halogen and if i’m not mistaken only the Ultimate gets LED, with petrol models.
Something I forgot to mention is the rear indicators are halogen on all models and posiyioned to low down imo
