TimWoah! I was tempted by the premium SE clearance price of the previous model but this is insane value for money. Probably the best value vehicle on the scheme full stop.
April 25, 2021 at 7:27 am #146476Come on down. The Price is right…Certainly makes it one to add to the list for those considering going down the EV route.

RichardPerfect hatchback for 2 or those with younger kids. If it was that little bit bigger I’d be ordering that Monday without hesitation.
I’ve got a feeling that’s wrong for the Premium tho. Nothing on Hyundai’s website.
That’s gotta be the best value best spec EV on the scheme (best value has to be the ecorsa on nil ap) if correct
April 25, 2021 at 9:56 am #146499
RichardI take it back I think it’s correct pricing. Those prices are listed on Lings Hyundai motability price list so if they’re on a dealers page they’ve gotta be right
April 25, 2021 at 10:08 am #146502
TimDealer confirmed it’s correct pricing this morning. I’d argue it’s THE best value in the scheme 64kwh and a full top spec list for £499!

ajnGreat deal auto too ?, post’s like this makes this site a brilliant source of info..

RichardDon’t forget all EVs are effectively autos so if interested in an EV don’t worry about that.
Really want to order the Kona Ultimate now but no going to stick to my guns & order my car Monday.
April 25, 2021 at 10:51 am #146508If you tried launch control on the Kona, you’d be ordering that and sod the kids.
pull up at the lights, select sport. Left fort on the brake, right foot to the floor on the accelerator (obviously still silent) as soon as the lights change, lift the left foot off the brake and get flung back in the seat! It seems to help not get the wheel spin that way!

RichardTo be honest I’m really not into that anymore. I used to love doing it in my old Mondeo estate with a V6 in it years ago but to be honest I feel like crap so much these days I don’t really get much joy from driving & there’s too many morons on the road too esp here with oaps & tourists it’s a real nightmare. I have enough footage to launch my own TV show!
I can see if you were that way minded it could be a lot of fun tho & I’m glad you’re clearly in love with your car. I hope I end up feeling the same with mine. At least I’ve been told make, model & colour is in stock & I can be in it in 7 days.
I’m very jealous as I wish I could justify the Kona instead but the wide has her say too so….
April 25, 2021 at 8:48 pm #146578Can anyone get a wheelchair in the boot of their Kona without putting the rear seats down?
April 25, 2021 at 8:54 pm #146580
IntranicityI have a Top End Terminator Titanium chair, back folded and wheels off it fits, but it is a small chair. I never use the back seats so put my chair in behind me, but I think you might get a normal hospital style chair in the boot with the parcel shelf removed
April 25, 2021 at 9:04 pm #146582@Intranicity – thanks for that. It’s still on the list then, I suppose the only way would be to go and try it 🙂
April 25, 2021 at 9:22 pm #146583
IntranicityYou won’t regret it, there’s a huge amount of space under the rear floor too, I’ve taken out the packing that’s in there, might be worth checking out.
Current fuel consumption (4.7miles/kWh is equal to 300 mile range)
April 26, 2021 at 10:48 am #146607Any chance of a tape measure job on the boot dimensions with & without the parcel shelf so people can work out exactly if their chair will go in the boot?
I was very tight on space loading my little electric wheelchair in my e2008 until I put the “load flat floor” in the attic & the charge cable under the next boot floor down. Now it fits lengthways instead of going across most of the boot. I’d guess that the Kona has similar junk items that can be removed.
April 26, 2021 at 11:10 am #146612
sifIntranicity, how much extra space would you say there is?
April 26, 2021 at 11:29 am #146613Any chance of a tape measure job on the boot dimensions with & without the parcel shelf so people can work out exactly if their chair will go in the boot?
I’ll try, this is my chair for reference

2023 - Hyundai Kona Electric UltimateApril 26, 2021 at 11:41 am #146619With the total area clear though, dimension wise, you have a maximum height from the metal to the roof line of just over 40″, a maximum depth of 27″ and a maximum usable width of 40″. It is pretty square, although does slope in a bit towards the top of the car. Hope that helps

2023 - Hyundai Kona Electric UltimateApril 26, 2021 at 11:50 am #146620That’s really useful, thanks, I could easily stand my Foldawheel vertically in that “spare wheel” well.
I don’t carry the granny charger as I find it’s quicker to simply rapid charge for a few more minutes. However, I did carry ot for the first few months of EV use until I became confident enough with the charging infrastructure (Plan A, B, C & D, and if all those don’t work out then a flatbed truck). The type 2 cable is always carried for use on the supermarket 7kW freebies.
April 27, 2021 at 11:30 am #146762What’s the difference between the two 150kW Premiums? I can see it’s the 10.5kW charger, but what is that actually referring to, what does the extra 100 quid get you and is it worth it?
April 27, 2021 at 11:45 am #146765The cheaper one at £399 (with a pic) is the MY20.5 old model, it has a battery heater, the new model (MY 21) is probably the better option, but not much in it and you would have to take what’s in the dealer networks as they aren’t made anymore. Sensible option without a doubt is the Ultimate, which has everything as standard and is the same AP at only £499.
The 10.5kW refers to the onboard charger on the AC side, most home chargers are 7kW, some you encounter elsewhere are up to 22kW, the Kona can use these, but will only take a max of 10.5kW.
Fast chargers are DC, and the Kona can charge at a max of 77kWh on these.
150kw refers to the maximum output, 201bhp
