Hi all, I’m getting good replies from forum regarding my car search.

just found this discount at Richmond Hyundai.

Ive phoned and said my changeover is May, they said I could still have it, if I placed order soon.

I can’t use it because I’m near Manchester and they’re in Portsmouth.
Ive phoned several dealers near me and they can’t offer anything let alone £1000.

      Hope it helps someone.

      Regards, wonky

For a £1k saving I would drive down and stay the night, especially if they are prepared to allow to put in the initial order over the phone or from your Motability online account.

From memory, Motability stopped people ordering by phone due to complaints from other dealerships, but as @kezo says, it’s worth a drive to Portsmouth (if you are able) even if you have to go twice – once to order and once to pick up.

You could turn it in to a mini-break. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is very good (the Mary Rose particularly, which is fully wheelchair accessible) and nearby Gunwharf Quay is a discount shopping village with lovely waterfront views. There are loads of nice pubs and restaurants there and in Old Portsmouth. The £1,000 saving would pay for the two journeys, mini breaks and still leave you with around £500 in your pocket! If you were feeling adventurous, you can even pop over to the Isle of Wight!

Hi, thanks Kezo and Glos Guy.

It is 2 trips and would test battery after pickup.
We will give it serious thought, I’ve not driven that far for a long time.

Ive not test driven yet but can do that near home.

            Regards, wonky

Which Hyundai are you after?  The Richmond Group are pretty reasonable people while they are getting an order.  If you say you’re coming down from so far away, they’ll be sure to welcome you and help you all you need.  There’s plenty around to make it a great weekend away without spending a stupid amount.

                @wonky

Have you looked at the RN Golden Hyundai offer – post #297258 in the Deals and Offers thread:

                Motability Deals And Offers – Q2 2024 (1st April 2024 to 30th June 2024)

Yes, it is only £500 discount, but they are located in Huddersfield, a stones throw over the hills from Manchester (40 mins drive).

Okay, it is less discount, but you won’t need to fork out for hotel accommodation, fuel costs and your time and potential stresses of the M6/M1 driving south and M25 around London etc. Particularly as you will have to do it twice.

Or, if perhaps you hang fire a couple of weeks  towards the end of the month although not guaranteed, some dealers sometimes need to discount vehicles even further to hit bonuses and/or clear the decks. RN Golden in the past have often been such a dealer – look at older offers/discounts threads.

Or perhaps pay them a visit with a print out of the Richmond offer and ask them to at least match it – a personal visit is best as phone enquiries are often given a negative response. It is often more difficult for them to refuse if you are stood in front of them ready to splash the cash as it were (or at least order the vehicle).

Hi Big Dave,  thanks for info.
RN no good at present as time sensitive.

For your info: I’m getting my offers info off Motaclarity website, click deals then at bottom, cash back offers.
If there’s anything of interest you’re more capable than me at listing on this forum.

                  Regards, wonky
