    Hi All

following a few changes with my son (he gets the car ) we  are using the mobility car less and less my son is autistic ,none verbal, and doesnt like it for some reason , i am also out of work and still have  the second car that my son is happy to travel in so i want to return the mobility car, its been a great car but pointless it sitting on the drive.

what do i do/say to mobility to return it? how long does the returning take, do i take it to the dealer i bought it from or what? what happens about getting mobility monthly payments back? the car has been with us about 18months, would we get back any AP?

    sorry for all the questions

    Paul

The only thing you can do is ring motability and explain it to them they will talk you through the process

and its better to get the info direct rather than different from what others might say

You can give it back whenever you want but motability have the right to charge your a cancellation fee. I don’t think they will after a call from you and your explanation. I am not even the awarded person, just the driver and I had an issue myself and they let us change the car without charge.

Give them a call and explain your situation. They are usually very understanding and helpful.

When my wife couldn’t drive any more we no longer needed two cars. As my private car was significantly better than anything available through Motability, I called them to discuss returning our Motability car. They were fine about it.

From memory, we would have received a pro-rata refund of the AP, less an early termination fee which I think was around £250. There was no pro rata refund of any options we had added. I thought that this was very reasonable but, in the end, I sold the private car as my wife found it harder to get in and out of and the Motability car was also easier to load the wheelchair in and out of.

Just a update, rang mobility and they had no problem with the return, very helpful.

we will have to pay the early termination fee of £250 but will get back about half of the AP we paid and they offered us £100 good condition payment too.

all in all very pleased with the service from them.

so the car goes back on this Friday, someone will  end up with a nice car thats been no trouble at all for the last 18 months.

now i understand that i can get the tax paid on our other car now but since thats a EV too the tax is zero anyway till they review the car tax system next April .

thanks all for the help and advice,  so long and thanks for all the fish

Just to add to the above

You can organise via motorbility to return your car to any motorbility dealer reguardless of brand

I have returned a bmw car to local suzuki dealer before on a Sat morning and the car was inspected by a more junior member of staff who failed to pick up a few body defects 🙂
