My house insurance is due 12th April, we have been with Saga for many many years paying around 360/370 mark, again no reminder by post or online, tried to get int my account cannot due to technical problems. Eventually found a way to see my renew over £570 plus it was on auto renewal?

I check on the Martin Lewis site equivalent cover in fact far better with a 5 star insurance company £171.66, or if I stayed with Saga just over £184 ?.

Phoned Saga and they just talked around the question asking me if I wished to renew at £570, I told them no and again I have not auto renewal, they just kept telling me I have enjoyed low price insurance with them (£360/370) for the past 3 years.

      Rant over

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

I have been with Esure’s 5 star defacto home insurance for around 5 years and pay £194 which includes legal and zero voluntary excess.

Only had one claim, when little one painted floor and leather sofa with nail varnish and they paid into bank account with no problem under new for old.

I recommend Aviva, they’re very good when you need to make a claim. Was with them for house and car, house was broken into and my Audi A4 was stolen, they sent a UPVC specialist out at 10pm Friday night to fix the door, which they ended up replacing. We got paid out for 2 TV’s a camera and a mobile phone, payment was made within 2 weeks. They immediately made me an offer on the car and the cash was in my account 8 days after the car was stolen.

Had a leak in the kitchen, stop cock was faulty and needed replacing, it was buried behind a quarter width corner cabinet, plumber had to dismantle it to replace stopcock. Was with another insurance company at the time, they refused to pay out.

nfortunateley it no longer pays to loyal customers where insurance is concerned yo need to start again every year, aviva even admitted to me that the best rates are for new customers joining them from elsewhere. as i had found quotes on comparison sites cheaper than their renewal. now i set aide a day for each policy and have always found a far cheaper quote than any renewal quote for any type of insurance. “saved” £300 last year on annual travel policy.
