tinytimI can remember when i could not afford the advanced payments on the honda jazz as they were always in the thousends now the advanced payments have reduced a lot in the automatics and the great safety equipment you get they are really great coupled with such a great reliability record as well. I have placed my order for a jazz sport semi auto paddleshift and find even though they are now made in japan for uk have a choice of colours as well when i had to wait for a seat for well over 8 months great work honda uk.

An excellent choice of car, 8 months wait for a SEAT, too long in my book.

AlanAAll very well if your disability doesn’t effect getting down and into or out and up however. Again, if you Ged a higher standing car and auto, tgen your disability is not treated the same, you pay more for certain disabilities over others

tinytimThe honda jazz is quite a high driving position like a small mpv as said on the uk jazz club web site the best car for ease of getting in and out.

AnonymousHi tinytim
My wife had a Jazz back in 20112/13 and after a while she found that getting in and out was too difficult as the doors did not open wide enough and the driving position was too low. I found when driving that the MPG on the Automatic was atrotious, then it was petrol and not diesel.

JamesThe mk3 jazz from 2015-current has very wide opening doors and they are quite light, the car has a great range of seating and steering wheel adjustments and everyone from a 4ft11 friend of mine to me at 6ft2 can get comfortable. I’ve only had the car 2 weeks but it is great so far and I’m averaging 51 mpg with the cvt semi auto and its great on the motorway and makes life around town so easy. I cannot recommend this car enough. Test drive one at the very least if its on your list of potential cars.

Glos GuyI’m sure that, being a Honda, it’s an extremely well built car and for those requiring a small car whose disabilities allow the compromises that come with a small car, it would no doubt be a great choice. But ‘best value on Motabilty’? I don’t think so. It’s one of the cheaper cars on Motability (most in the £14-17k range), so even if it was zero AP, there are cars now on the scheme that have a retail price of up to £20k more for just a few thousand extra.
If you consider the £9k sacrificed benefit for a car with say zero AP at around £15k retail, you will have paid 60% of the cost of the car over 3 years. Conversely, if you pay £3k AP for a £35k car, making £12k total outlay, you have paid 34% of the cost of the car over the 3 years. To me, that’s much better value!

AnonymousHi Glos Guy
Unfortunately not everyone has a huge pot of money to use as AP on Motability cars, some of us have to ask for help via grants for AP’s so we are not going to get a £35k car, probably more like £18K – £20k vehicle, and that is good value to some of us.

tinytimWell said light your right in the past when i had enough monies to pay higher aps even though you do not get that amount back i was ok with that but now more disabled and unable to pay thousends in aps i think the honda is great value for money and the top of the range jazz is to me still a pricey car at over £17,000 and would not be able to afford to purchase a car at this price and run it.
May 29, 2018 at 9:28 am #51939
tinytimAlso cost of car does not validate reliability as said before and in auto express german cars suffer the most engine fails.
May 29, 2018 at 12:22 pm #51943
Glos GuyWith respect, you and TinyTim are both missing the point I am making. I completely understand that not everybody can afford a high AP and indeed most Motability customers shop at the lower end of the market. I also understand that some people get their AP paid for by a grant whilst others have to pay it themselves (but that’s another issue altogether). The point I was making that low value cars like the Jazz, however good they may be, are not the “Best Value on Motability” as stated in the thread title.
If you re-read my post you will see, by the example I have given, that better ‘value’ is obtained as you move up the price range. The maths are clear. Affordability is an entirely different matter.

AnonymousHi Glos Guy
The original poster states that the Honda Jazz in his opinion is “Best Value on Motability” and who are we to disagree with his opinion.
In my own opinion the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid is the “Best Value on Motability”, these vehicles are used by disabled persons that want to get from A to B and are not bothered about the math’s or about the better “Value obtained as you move up the price range”. If the disabled person that uses the car, finds that it is the best for their needs, then I suggest that becomes the “best Value on Motability” In their eyes, and who are we to argue that!

tinytimHi i do not know anyone who calculates that a honda jazz is a low value car at over £17,000 to what in the old days used to be a plastic pig and no choice there is a bit of snobbery that more expensive means better but that does not mean which to me is more important reliability thjats no 1 to me.
