Morning all! As the title says, I think am gonna go mad.
just seen the new lineup from motability and am really loving the look of the jaecoo. Now, a couple of genuine questions
1. has anyone driven the Jaecoo 5
2. There’s no dealership in Northern Ireland so how would I go about ordering one if I was interested
many thanks. Only reason I ask is because i need a sizeable boot but because of spine issues, am thinking that an electric tailgate would be the way to go
thanks in advance

I can’t comment on the Jaecoo 5 but the KIA ev3 is pretty good as long as you don’t need a boot hoist for a powerchair plus dealership availability will be much better i imagine. Equally the Kona was fantastic too.
I would’ve recommended looking at the Enyaq or ID.4 before the price changes but those are too expensive for what you get.
April 1, 2026 at 10:08 am #350322As of January some cars sold in GB will no longer be type approved for sale NI, so you’d have to do your homework on whether this applies to Jaecoo. However, it would mean you having to come over to collect and bring it back for servicing or any issues!
Are there any dealers in ROI?
Omoda 5 is basically the same car!
April 1, 2026 at 10:29 am #350323At £5499 – £6499 for the Jaecoo E5, you could get a huge MGS6 for same money or MGS5 Trophy for less than £4k!

And although I cannot complain about a car which costs me only £186 a month, I can definitely state that the quality of the work is extremely poor: the rubber pins in the boot or under the hood already dried out and cracked, the welding work is simply painted over etc.
Perfect for three years lease, but G-d forbid to own one.

Is you kid happy?
The Seal I noticed was decent in build, maybe get the rubber sorted under warranty.
April 1, 2026 at 11:01 am #350334Oh, yes. The kid is over the moon: no need to pay for a fuel anymore, plus it drives very nicely.
We also found out it has electricity adjustable seats for both the driver and the front passenger, and the killer is the infotainment screen: it rotates!

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
April 1, 2026 at 11:26 am #350354If you want a bigger boot, the obvious step would be the Jaecoo 7 but with no dealer, it’s a ferry and driving to pick one up and get it serviced. Not my choice.

April 1, 2026 at 3:48 pm #350415Thanks for all the feedback. I think we can cross the jaecoo off the list. Too good to be true. We only need a qasquai (sp!) size car and the jaecoo seemed to tick every box. What from the one about location!!!!
will have to have a look online later with a nice bottle of red!

Have a look at the MGS5 Trophy- basically same size as Qashqai.
