Picked up my new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV this morning.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

BryanWell done @Oscarmax….. my car is due at the end of June… we could meet and play with each others buttons and touch screens !! OOh err missus !!!!!!!!
June 19, 2020 at 10:55 am #115559Oscarmax, may I ask why did you choose the PHEV, did you consider the petrol version. I like the option of 7 seats so just wondering if something made you choose the PHEV ?
There are only 2 of us the back seats are never used the rear seats in the 7 seater are only off use to small children, I have my own drive so able to have a EV point my local journeys are less than 20 miles, 28 miles is going to cost me less than 50 pence, plus it Brydo fault.
I did a lot of research on the seating arrangement of the PHEW and it’s counterparts with the PHEW being my number one choice but alas was not to be.
This is what I found pointing out what differs between the 5 seat PHEW and the 7 seat petrol and diesel versions and it is the middle row seats on the 7 seat, or back seat on the 5 seat, the 7 seat version has fold, tilt, slide and recline seats where the 5 seat has just the standard fold flat seats and the former allows you to shift any combination of the 3 middle seats forwarded to give an, all the difference, extra inch or two to get a fully assembled pavement scooter in that more than 39” in length while retaining 5 usable seats.
The reason why the PHEW has the bench type seats in the back is to do with the car being all wheel drive and there being electric motors under the boot floor.
I agree with you Oscarmax that seats 6 and 7 are almost worthless and if I were to take my family to say the airport 7 miles away would be uncomfortable in those seats even in that short time, that and there being no room for luggage and even for small kids there’s the problem that there not going to be small for long.
Even though I have 7 seats in my car they will never be use but generally most 7 seat cars, but not all, can accommodate a fully assembled pavement scooter even though the overall length of the car is the same in both version and the VW Touran is another example of this arrangement.
June 19, 2020 at 11:32 am #115563Thanks ChrisK
I just double checked and my pavement scooter is 109.2cm (43″) on papaer, so thats a great point, I was going to look to check the boot as the main things for me are seat height to ground (need as high as possible) and boot length (Scooter).

What mitsubishi dealer did you use
June 23, 2020 at 12:54 pm #115895Adam I used Brindley Mitsubishi in Cannock Staffordshire, they have always had a very good reputation for over the 30 + years I have known of them.
The PHEV also came with the battery fully charged as expected, but also half a tank of petrol which was not expected. I asked for 2 extra rear no plates for our caravan and trailer, they would no accept any payment.
We have just got back from having the towbar fitted in Shrewsbury, we travelled all the way from our house to the towbar fitters premises a 36 mile journey, we travelled 35 miles on pure electric, and gained an extra 1 charge going downhill before arriving so travel a total of 36 miles on electric @ 5 pence kWh total 50 pence.
On the way back with no battery charge left, just using the generative hybrid system mpg. In total we travelled 72 miles used £3.47 of petrol and 50 pence of electric total £3.97, our last car Ford Kuga would have cost £8.91 for the same journey, so a saving of £5.44.

June 24, 2020 at 10:23 pm #116022Antone over 6′ tall got one?, the short electric range would do me for local trips but I read a couple of reviews saying it wasn’t any good for tall drivers, I’m just over 6′ 5″ in my socks 🙂

You will not be disappointed, we are getting some excellent MPG even on a 72 mile journey, forget all the rubbish you read in the press. We took the Outlander down the M6 toll road at motorway speed in petrol mode it was as quiet as a mouse.
