I see the new government scheme has started. PIP and DWA are qualifying benefits for grants of £10000 for qualifying work. Has anyone looked into this yet? I’ve looked at the govt website and elsewhere and it’s unclear if it is means tested or income related in any way.

For DWA read DLA. Bl**dy spilchucker.
September 30, 2020 at 11:38 am #125298To answer my own question and having spoken to a local insulation company, the grant of up to £10000 is available to anyone in receipt of PIP or DLA regardless of income.
September 30, 2020 at 11:43 am #125299Yes @Wigwam. I am currently gathering the 3 quotes required for external solid wall insulation.

How did you find your three companies? There only seems to be one listed near here and they can’t come to survey until 25th November!
September 30, 2020 at 7:31 pm #125356Good question Wigwam. I think my area is pretty well served by registered TrustMark companies. There are 3 local companies within Doncaster boundaries, All of them are dedicated External wall insulating companies. That is to say, They are well known contractors, specialising in EWI External wall insulation.
So far 2 out of the 3 have contacted me already. Just waiting for the 3rd to get in touch.
From my understanding, If you can not manage to get 3 quotes then 2 will suffice.
Your best bet is to contact https://www.simpleenergyadvice.org.uk/ and tell them you are having problems get the three quotes required. You might want to visit https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-the-green-homes-grant-scheme
Just out of interest Wigwam, is it external wall insulation that you are after?

Current car: Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.September 30, 2020 at 7:45 pm #125360I’ve spoken to Simple energy advice, Joss, and they agreed there was a dearth of Trustmark contractors round here.
I’m looking for cavity wall insulation and insulation in inaccessible roof spaces which seems to be done by taking tiles off and spraying foam.
Nearest possible can’t survey until November 26th and next nearest about 40 miles away are having a meeting tomorrow within the company to sort out what they are doing! Doesn’t inspire confidence.
Problem is this house is difficult for many reasons which is probably why nothing has been tackled in the past.
I don’t hold out much hope if taking advantage of the scheme but will give it my best shot!
October 1, 2020 at 7:45 am #125428One of the companies that I spoke to where also holding a meeting. They said information has only just been released to them. It does seem a bit of a fav though. Keep us posted though Wigwam and I will do the same.
Good luck.

Current car: Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.October 1, 2020 at 9:57 am #125467ThargGood spot, Wigwam and Joss. This is first I’ve heard of this scheme. Is the govt keeping it quiet? Seems odd. Doubtful whether it’ll help with anything at Tharg Villa but will take a look anyway. Thanks again…
October 2, 2020 at 5:23 pm #125734All the firms I’ve spoken to are inundated with enquiries Tharg, I think it was splashed in the red top papers. I’ve managed to find a couple of firms who claim to work nationwide through lots of Googling and phoning around, Joss. Expecting responses any week now….
October 2, 2020 at 5:29 pm #125736From conversations, it seems previous schemes fell foul of some dodgy traders and so they’ve restricted providers to members of the TrustMark scheme. Hence the low numbers of firms and strangely one national company I contacted today said they were not taking part. Obviously they don’t need the millions of pounds on offer…
October 2, 2020 at 7:38 pm #125751Well despite my efforts, I have hit a wall of silence on replies. My company of choice Westdale Services Have as yet not got back to me. This is a local company 5 miles from me. Started as a rendering company and has now become a national company. They are proven experts in their field.
They did say when I rang them that they were still waiting details from the government. So just taking details of those applying for Green homes Grant. I will ring them on Monday.

However I would advise caution in using any third party offering Green Homes Grant assistance. I would advise anyone looking on this site to read their about section here. https://www.grantscheme.uk/privacy.asp?SID=#About
Just be cautious and know what you may potentially be getting into with such 3rd parties.
I would strongly advise sticking to the governments web sites

Current car: Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.October 3, 2020 at 9:10 am #125776I looked at the site Mike 700 posted and was rather intrigued that I could not discover who they were, other than a name. No company information, no reason for giving what to be fair is good information about the scheme, but which plenty of TrustMark businesses also have on their own websites. I concluded they were data harvesting and didn’t fill in their form.
October 3, 2020 at 1:15 pm #125797Sorry guys,
should have included. ’ this site gives clear info compared to most!
October 3, 2020 at 1:31 pm #125801Yes it does Mike 700. No need to apologise – all good information.
I do wonder how they are funded. They appear to want to be some sort of broker for people who can’t organise things for themselves, and presumable get a fee from the contractors, which is fair enough but if that’s the case they should be honest about themselves.
October 3, 2020 at 5:01 pm #125823As Wigwan said Mike, there is no need to apologies. It seem that web site company are keen to offer funding in the form of a finance service for which no doubt would get a nice Fee. That is one way they get their funding.
On Monday my phone is going to be very busy chasing companies up

October 7, 2020 at 8:11 am #126196Well Guys as promised in a previous post. My phone was red hot on Monday. I have officially allied for my grant for EWI external wall insulation.
I manage to get 2 quotes and on the advice of Simple energy advice. I submitted them on the Gov web site. Filling in the form on line was straight forward. However, On clicking the submit button, I got an error! In the end I called Simple energy advice and explained the problem. The guy asked if I had included a £ sign with the cost. Which I had, he said just remove the £ sign and it will work. Removed the £ sign and all was good.
Now to wait to see if my claim is accepted.
How are you guys doing with your claims??
Joss
Current car: Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.October 7, 2020 at 9:31 am #126204I contacted 7 firms last Friday, three by phone, four by email. Two have promised to call me but so far haven’t. One responded on Monday and is due to visit Thursday. And that’s it. I will give the rest until Friday and start chasing them up.
February 15, 2021 at 3:52 pm #139968SamHI Joss,
Have you recieved any reply from the Green Grant Scheme or has your voucher been issued yet? I also submitted my application in October 2020, but i’m told it’s still being processed
February 15, 2021 at 5:16 pm #139991Hello Sam
I have not as yet received my voucher. To be honest, it’s been a farce. They kept asking the same questions over and over. The contractors where getting Pissed off with all the extra work in the quotes. I rang GHG. In hope I could sort this out. They said the had everything they need now to make a decision.
The last email i got from GHG I will post below. I shall be calling GHG every fortnight asking when I will get my vouchers, being as they have everything they need. So it’s going to be a waiting game Sam.
Dear Customer,
We are emailing you about the evaluation of the Green Homes Grant (GHG) Vouchers Scheme. The evaluation is being conducted by independent researchers on behalf of The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Please be assured that your participation in any research is voluntary and not linked to the outcome of any application you have made to the GHG Vouchers Scheme.
If you are invited by our research partners to take part in the evaluation of the GHG Vouchers Scheme, more detail on what information you might be asked to provide as part of that evaluation exercise and how this will be used by our research partners will be supplied to you by those research partners when they contact you. For further information about how we process your information in relation to the GHG Vouchers Scheme generally, or to opt out of being contacted for further research, please refer to the privacy notice: https://green-homes-grant.service.gov.uk/privacy-policy.
What can I expect next?
Not everyone will be contacted, but if you are invited to take part, your experiences will enable our research partners to evaluate the GHG Vouchers Scheme, help to improve the scheme, and shape future decisions on home energy efficiency.

Current car: Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.February 15, 2021 at 7:47 pm #140026I got my voucher around Christmas time for loft insulation. Haven’t had it done yet for various reasons but the voucher is good to end of March. New ones will have longer life. The trade are complaining that the whole scheme is too complex and restrictive and that getting paid is problematic too!
February 16, 2021 at 9:18 am #140055And to add, the company doing the loft also did cavity wall insulation for us, but used the ECO scheme because the procedure was much simpler. Same cost to us – nothing!
February 16, 2021 at 9:33 am #140057this what you get when the contract to manage GHG is an American company. Are we no longer capable of a UK company doing this? The email I posted above has come about due to the amount of complaints from both recipient and Trade companies not being paid on time.
