Guys I can’t help but notice the number of first time posters on the forum.
I’m sure I speak for all regular posters by saying Welcome.
There is something for everyone here between the main forum and the “off topic” section.

Once again a new batch of first time posters have arrived on the Forum.
Its great to see new people with new opinions on here for the first time.
I think a catch phrase similar to this has been used before, somewhere, but “keep posting” lol.

Yes it seems the forum is getting popular which is a good thing Brydo i wonder if there any dealers willing to offer up to £2000 cash back that would be like winning the lottery.I think i will put up a new post to dealers on here for there promotion of there dealership sales.May 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm #77885
Dave £2000 is a lot of discount but if you don’t ask your unlikely to be offered, so let’s see if you get a response.
I have been saying for a long time that we should be pro active, 600,000+ people should have a lot of pulling power but as of now our pulling power is untapped.

Many thanks Bry i do think that its time for the dealers and manufacturers should offer what the private buyer gets mostly i have always been told by dealers is they do not make much money out of motability, if anyone remembers in the early 2000 ford used to send out money off vouchers when you contacted head office and now your lucky if you get £100 cashback. It would be good for the gov like the scrappage scheme to offer incentives to buy more on the motability scheme to help the manufacturer in this time with brexit affecting some sales.May 26, 2019 at 7:22 pm #77908
Thanks for the welcomes, great site you have here.. But I wish it had Separate boards for each section, would make it so much easier to find stuff.
just my 2p worth 🙂May 26, 2019 at 7:32 pm #77909
I remember the Ford scheme, it was called Magic, we got a £500 voucher that paid the full AP on a Focus ….. nice.May 26, 2019 at 7:56 pm #77911

The forum is ever evolving, and we appreciate all feedback.
For separate boards to work there must be significant discussions to fill the various topics, something we’ll look at for sure. But also I’m unaware if separate boards is feasible with the template we use but i’ll ensure @wmcforum see’s this for his consideration.
In the meantime we do have a search engine which can make things easier to find, we also have no objection for you to create a thread asking any questions you may have.

I’ve seen many forums over the years that have simply died because they start off being a specialist forum then diverge by adding other subjects and as the subjects are not linked to the main cause as it were they begin to die because the original subject still gets the odd post now and again but the diverge forums are empty or dated so folk begin to think the site is under used and not worth visiting.
You can see this happening on the youreabled.com site that has hundreds of post nearly everyday on the benefits forum and a few on the motoring section the rest of the site is almost dead with the odd new thread once a month or longer that makes me think its not worth posting in those sections and the less I visit more likely I am to forget it.
It’s a good ideal to add separate boards but I think it carries a risk so sometimes keeping it simple pays.
BTW just my view. 😀May 27, 2019 at 10:18 am #77935

The flaw there is that purely financially, the government don’t really want you to lease from Motability.
Due to Motability’s historic tax arrangements and their overarching charitable status they attract tax concessions over and above those available to a disabled person buying/leasing privately. Thus, overall the government receives less revenue than for a private sale/lease.
So, although the government would not deny your right to lease from Motability (if eligible) they obviously would rather maximise their revenue income, hence they speak with a rather forked tongue (as governments usually do!).
Going back, I did take advantage of the Ford Magic offer back around 2004. This was at the time when Ford actually owned the Ford vehicles on the scheme, as opposed to them being Motability owned (in effect Ford leased the vehicles to Motability, who in turn leased them to Motability customers).
Anyone who had a Ford around that time and returned it to a dealer at lease end often ran the gauntlet of the ‘Ford returned vehicle condition report’ which certainly was not as lenient with bumps and scrapes as Motability’s own vehicle return policy. This became well known via older disabled motoring forums such as the old ‘Yourable’ etc and did put off people from leasing Ford vehicles.
Ford were losing Motability customers because of this and in order to kick start Motability sales introduced the ‘Magic’ £500 vouchers at around the same time as Motability took over full ownership of Ford vehicles on the scheme. This brought them into line with the other scheme manufacturers, particularly with regard to the returned vehicle policy and good condition bonus.
The chances of a major manufacturer (or the government) introducing such generous scheme again would be slim at best in the current climate, particularly with Brexit being such an unknown quantity at this time. Manufacturers generally prefer to pass on volume discounts directly to their franchised dealers, leaving it upto the dealers to decide whether to pass these onto customers. As is often pointed out on here, dealers make more profit on private sales/leases, so in general these attract the biggest customer discounts.May 27, 2019 at 10:31 am #77938
Its funny you should say this. When our Focus was due to go back the dealer condition reported it. I knew there was one small ding so expected that to come up. Imagine my surprise when the report documented 3 areas of damage. I complained to motability, who basically said take it up with the dealer. I went back to the dealer and got the guy to walk me through the report alongside the car. We started with the ding i was aware of, but then as you can imagine the guy was more than a little embarrassed when dings 2 and 3 simply couldn’t be found on the car. Suffice to say a new report was written. We’ve never had a Ford since, but even if we did fancy one in future it wouldn’t be sourced from the same dealership for sure.May 27, 2019 at 11:09 am #77941
it’s funny to say this. when you focus these details looking to buy a second-hand car then checking if money owing and to rule out anything is very important. check out the history of pieces of information most comprehensive car check report, vehicle check, vin check, damages, stolen status and etc..May 30, 2019 at 9:46 pm #78265
