Good Condition Bonus

      Hi All,

This is our first car on the scheme, and we are due to order a new car in the next few weeks as our 5 year lease ends in November. In regards to the Good Condition Bonus, is this just one set price for all cars? and if so how much is it? Had a look online and seem to see different figures depending on which site you look at.

Also wanted to ask, will dealers take the GCB off your AP when ordering a new car, or is the GCB something they’ll send you after the new car arrives?

If I remember right, forgive me but MB keep changing things, but AFAIK the GCB or whatever they call it today is £250 for the 3 completed years and generally is paid, from my past payments, within a week of collecting the new car. Not sure what they allow for the extended years but my last car was returned at just over 4 years and if I remember right I got an extra £100.

Again things keep changing the past few years but going back to Covid years the dealers were, with MB permission, I believe taking the bonus off the AP but not sure they would do that now.

It’s currently £250 for a three year lease and £350 for a five year lease. If your just about to sign up to Motability, your likely to be limited to a three year lease due to change of T&C’s recently, s really depends what it says in the contract you sign.

As Chris say’s, the GCB is paid a few days after taking delivery of your new lease.

£250  as long as all qualifying conditions complied with.

All on the Motability official website.

For a 5 year lease I doubt it is the same as a 3 year lease.

Lease lengths, when you ordered and how much has already been paid to you, all affect how much GCP (Good Condition Payment) you will receive.

To find out how much you will get, log in to your Motability account.
Click ‘Payments’ (left hand panel) > Good Condition Payments >   **OK at this point, I’ve now seen that they’ve removed the amount  that is still owed to you** I know a short while ago it showed all eligible payments, then listed what has already been paid to you. Now it only shows what has been paid to you. I had been paid £350, but was still due some.
The New Vehicle Payment still shows how much you should get and when the payments were made to you.

I’m 99% certain that when I ordered my car, the GCB was £500, which means I should receive £150 when I hand my car back in a few days.

*EDIT- Researching online it appears that before the GCB was replaced by GCP (1st October 2022), the rate was £600 for a car (£900 WAV). Therefore I should receive £250.
I just hope Motability hasn’t removed this information with the plan of not paying the correct GCB.

*Further EDIT for OP. It looks like prior to 1st October 2022 (name change date), 5 yr leases earned £900 GCB. BUT, I don’t know how far back, from 1/10/22 the £900 GCB was applicable.
