I have broken my nose on two separate occasion I have been wearing glasses for 20 + years, however, in the last few years I have lost 3 stone, the problem is I have loosed some weight on my face in particular over the bridge of my nose, I cannot wear glasses now without pain, I have been back to the optician and brought some designer frame glasses, as hard as they try my glasses are hurting the bridge of my nose, any advice.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Have you tried gel nose pads?

As wigwam says or gently bend the nose pad fixings outwards a little.

I get terrible bruising from them on mine.

My glasses are the fixed plastic frames, the ones with the separate notepads I found uncomfortable, I need some sort of soft bridge of some very soft pads, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, I have paid £262 for a set of glasses which is fit for the bin.

I would very much see it as the opticians job to sort this out, Oscarmax.  I’m sure what you need does exist.

Defo go back to the optician, I’ve had a couple of pairs changed over the years, one of them because they irritated my skin.

As for buying glasses, I used to go to Specsavers and Boots, a pair of varifocals with thinner lenses (I’m a +4.5 and pay extra for thinner lenses) cost around £350. I then found Asda opticians, designer frames, varifocal and thinner lenses £135 (£110 without ultra thin lenses).

I use a company called OneStopGlasses

About £20 for a pair delivered to your door, same with prescription sunglasses.

They also do frames with a one piece “Comfort Bridge” which is what I prefer.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Went back to Specsavers yesterday, and told the assistant manager straight the glasses the glasses are useless and don’t fit, he again offered to try and fit them again, we said no we want some one else not him, he was not to happy, a young lad came out and patiently refitted the glasses, now both pair fit fine.

And that’s the way to do it. Well done Oscarmax.  People put up with too much of this nonsense and give up complaining.
