My father in law has 1 premium bond that he purchased 50+ years ago. He said he had never won anything on it and that peaked my interest, as surely after 50 years he should have won something. So I got on the phone looking for advice as he’s moved twice since he bought it. First time I called I was for an hour with no answer. Second time I was 40 minutes and then I was told they can’t deal with me as it’s not my Bond.

Emailed them today and they once again said they can’t deal with me but they gave me a list of things my father in law would need to provide in the form of a letter.

So got all that completed and sent off today fingers crossed for him that he’s won something.

what a faff, I suppose they need to be sure in who they are dealing with but for anyone having dealings with them email is the easiest by a mile.

So effectively if someone dies, their Premium Bond dies with them.

        I’ve had 7 for nearly 70 year’s and win £50, 40 years ago.

We had this when my mum died, think from memory the bond stays in the draws for 3-6 months after the death. I wouldn’t hold out much hope with 1 bond. Rates went up this month.

My late wife won £100 after her death and I wasn’t allowed to make a claim.
