Can you still move your toes?
Is the lump hot?
There’s a number of possibilities but, without medical history and an understanding of what can/can’t move, it’s not easy to guess.
Possibilities include a cyst, broken bone, dislocated bone or a bite or something that’s become infected.
Either way, I’d suggest getting it seen at your local minor injuries unit, it needs to be seen by a doctor.

March 29, 2026 at 11:32 am #349652Morning @MFillingam
Yes that red swelling do get hot, it seems along the bone of the foot or around it maybe..
Started on a Amsterdam break recently, extra steps or standing I’m guessing, however flaring up after using the foot now..
I think after visiting a coffee shop or too, may have clouded the mind to walking further..
March 29, 2026 at 11:35 am #349653It may be possible that you’ve stood on something while you were less aware of the discomfort and now it’s easier to aggravate while walking.
Advice still stands, get it looked at by a professional. I hold no medical qualifications and can’t poke, manipulate the area. Hobble your way to minors, take a book.

March 29, 2026 at 11:41 am #349657I read cuboid bone can cause problems, maybe a stress fracture.
Bloody thing hurts though, when it decides to start..
Everything is wonky in Amsterdam floors, buildings just about everything..
March 29, 2026 at 11:47 am #349659Oh sorry yes toes can still be moved however again radiates pain..

That kind of confirms the theory of fracture/stress fracture. To be fair, if the bone is aligned there’s not much beyond a boot that a doc will do. That said, if it’s out of line or a complex fracture (unlikely in a small bone) they may want to either manipulate it back or surgically correct it. My guess would be pain relief and a boot for 6 weeks.
Still, advice stands. You’re concerned enough to ask about it, you need to get it looked at in person by a professional. It won’t get better quicker if you try and ignore it, in fact the opposite applies. The sooner it gets a secure support where it can heal without the constant aggravation of movement, the sooner it’ll heal.

March 29, 2026 at 12:20 pm #349665Understood @MFillingham and Thankyou.
Ill rest it up for awhile, however if it continues I’ll get it checked out ..
March 29, 2026 at 12:55 pm #349668Add ice compress to the area, but wrap ice or peas in a tea towel. Elevate your foot and try to keep weight off your foot. Initially rest is best until you can see a Dr.
As there are no signs of brusing, It could well be a sprain cause by exercise or tight fitting foot wsre.
Do you suffer from Gout?
As I said, Ice compress. Keep your foot elevated. Try not to weight bear on the foot. and lastly, wear loose fitting foot wear. See a Dr if it gets worse.🦵🏻🥿🩺🩻🩼📋🧊🧊🧊🚑🦽🛎️🛋️🌡️⚕️

March 29, 2026 at 1:16 pm #349673Hello Joss, Ive been diagnosed with slight RA to the neck, more so in back and thumb..
Never had a mention of gout, and have regular blood tests, for other complications.
I’m hoping it was just being over adventurous walking, it has come back with slight pain, then swelling, it did leave bruising when cleared up last time..
Resting will help however I get bored and can’t keep still..
March 29, 2026 at 1:29 pm #349675Thanks kezo, interesting reading..
March 29, 2026 at 1:33 pm #349677Just sent that link to the Wife..
March 29, 2026 at 1:54 pm #349678Not diabetic @kezo no, I’m thinking after reading it’s a non healed stress fracture..
Explaining the bruising along the foot after the swelling, then me using it to soon again causing it to swell up..🙄
March 29, 2026 at 6:32 pm #349692Just go and easy your mind by getting it check out @ajn You know it makes sense.

No cure, I’m afraid. Medication is blood thinners (well dodgy) and you also get a set of “compression stockings”. These are quite effective at relieving discomfort but are a right sod to get on and off. I even bought this frame pulling thingey which handles of of them but now the other,
Must agree with everyone else – go see your GP. Important to get an accurate diagnosis.
