Just had my 1st flat tyre today , no spare as standard .

So I rang kwik fit they said there next appointment is in 2 days .

The flat tyre is on my drive no damage to the rim .

I was then put through to rac ,

And they said they would be with me at 22,30pm , I was on the phone to them at 18,30.

At 20.30 rac rang to say they will be late with no time and could they come tomorrow.

My response was ” at 730am I am going out ,40mile trip tyre inflated or not “.

So they said they could recover it and leave me with no car , but I could use a taxi .

So I am waiting for them to arrive at some point in the night to wake us all up.

This is abysmal , if I was on my way to the airport, I would not be waiting.

Is that the normal way to deal with a flat tyre ?

        What joke

They just rang me to say they will be with me from 6am.

        That’s as good as 12 hrs .

No mobile tyre fitters have a tyre for the enyaq either .

This is extremely frustrating however the same would apply even if it were not a Motability vehicle, the only other possibility is that outside of Motability we could phone around to find an independent tyre fitter who would come out in the evening/night. The problem is more because there is no spare wheel. If it were me I would have ordered a taxi straight away (which I think you have done) and make sure a family member had the key for the car so it could be sorted while away, again not ideal but its a solution.

Fingers crossed you will be good to go now or very soon to get to airport (saying you would drive there with a flat, again while frustrating, is not going to work).

Well more than 12 hrs and nothing

Having to pay for taxies ( school run (17 miles each way ) and school run 22 mikes each way ) that will be over £50 .

And I need to go to the hospital,  another £25.

It’s OK that your suggesting that I ring around for tyes but that’s why motability use kwik fit and rac .

I am also aware that this can happen to any car with no spare ( except BMW )

I am just letting other member know what to expect if you get a out of hours flat.

I could posably fix it as I have a tyre on  plugging kit , but I can’t jack the car up ( need to borrow one ) but why should I when there are people supposedly out there to help us .

My point was iff I git a flat on the m1 and it was to catch a plane,  I think now I would just continue until I arrived.

Just had rac on the phone while writing this and they will be here at noon .

Need to call motability to confirm that they will refund all theses taxis.

I was not suggesting you phone around for tyres but was saying that if it were not a MB car that is what we would do.

The offer of taxis would have come because you are a Motability customer

I thought you said you already had a flat and if necessary you would drive to the airport even if it were not fixed

I guess my message was meant to be supportive but at the same time recognising that there is not a lot else which could be done. It’s extremely unfortunate the flat happened the day before you were going to the airport, have a hospital appointment and have to do school runs.

Hope it gets fixed and you find a solution.

If you have no spare wheel but do have a tyre repair kit, it should get you going, no need to jack. Think you fill with the liquid then use the tyre inflator. Should be good for a few low speed miles or enough to get to a Kwick Fit. Not ideal but I think RAC aren’t prioritising you as you are at home.

Thing is if you got a flat on the m1 it would classed as urgent, as you are at home it’s not classed as urgent and those cases would be looked at first

I had a puncture 2 days ago and limped to the nearest Kwik Fit. When I got there the guy said you’ll be lucky as we don’t stock tyres for those. He did say another branch 5 miles away did have the size in stock but a different brand. Limped there to be told as the tyres were a different brand, they would have to fit 2. He called Motability who first said no to which he replied then you had better get him home then as I was nowhere near to where I live. They soon changed their tune and gave it the go ahead.
