Ford, the biggest name in British motoring with a string of best sellers to its name. But strangely absent from the electric car market, except the Mach-e. Finally, they’re fighting back, with the new all electric Explorer and NIcola has been to drive it for the first time.

I quite like it and would love to see it on the scheme. It reminds me of the new Kia EV3.

It’s nothing more than a VW ID4 in a different frock.

I sat in the red one on the country wide tour at the end of last year,it has some nice features.

When it comes on Motability who’s betting the AP’s will make your eye’s water.

Looks nice to me, but then again I’d love the Ford F-150 Lightning but there’s no chance of that coming on!

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

This was at The Big Show at the NEC and Ford reckoned the starting price would be around 1K, Motability have confirmed that it is on the back office system and will come on to the scheme at the latest quarter 3.

Its really really old tech now, this is a vehicle that was meant to be launched over 2 years ago, the current VW MEB platform which this vehicle uses is due to be phased out next year with a revised Enyaq being the first of the new generation.

Its not that old tech…motors are the same uprated ones just released by VW, so 286hp for the RWD, charging is up to 180kw, which matches the fastest of the MEB crowd and the battery pack is LFP, so it’s longer lasting, has no nasty nickel or cobalt and its happy to charge to 100%.

Pity it still has a few VW foibles thrown in, the touch sensitive buttons and sliders, the 2 switch front/rear window thing. Not as big as the Kuga, but then, they wouldn’t want it stepping on the Mach-E’s toes.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

There is one major advantage with the Ford using Google’s Android Automotive system, rather than VW groups crappy setup!

No it is older technology thats why not more vehicles will be built on the current MEB platforms.

the vehicle may have the updated components, however its still limited by the platform limitations, the same is happening with the newly launched Tavascan.

Thankfully there will ne an all new platform by end of 2025.
