It’s correct, suspended from today for 3 months.  Also see here (about half way down),

      https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51901818

“From Tuesday, face-to-face assessments for sickness and disability welfare payments will be suspended for three months.

The suspension will apply to claimants of personal independence payments, employment and support allowance, some on Universal Credit and people on industrial injuries schemes.”

      And full info here,

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

i think claims will still go through but without the need for a face to face for existing claimants

At least for existing claimants they will already have medical letters and notes from previous f to f assessments.
But I can see big delays for new claims as they would need to have some way of verifying new claims.

I’m currently renewing, had a letter back from Capita a week or so ago saying they had received my claim from DWP and were looking at it. Still mentioned the usual bit about their decision being  based on info I sent and their investigations but (yet another) face to face may be necessary. Obviously things have changed now, so I’m waiting to hear from them about what happens now. My current award runs out in May but if what I take from the brief info on the .gov website holds true, then I’ll still be getting my pip into June maybe longer.

The old “Indefinite” award wasn’t actually indefinite, it was an award without a fixed end date and could be reviewed at at any time the DWP chose to.

With PIP the nearest thing currently is an award for “An ongoing period”, this is meant to be 10yrs with a “Light touch” review at the end of that period.  As this was only recently brought in nobody with the award has been on it long enough to say how it’s working in practice.

I got awarded ongoing and may be reviewed in 10 years unless circumstances change (they find new hoops for us to jump through).

I’ve had a paper review after 4 years of a 10 year award mine was probably as I told them I was going to have some surgery.
The form was simple and didn’t take long to fill out. About 5 weeks later I got a letter saying everything will stay as per original award.
