Awaiting 1st EV so keeping eye on various tariffs, in particular Eon Drive Smart but noticed as of yesterday I couldn’t get any EV tariff quotes. Never thought too much but guessed they were re evaluating due to Trumps latest escapade.
Today I see notification saying due to events in middle east Eon have pulled pretty much everything.
I assume other energy suppliers have or will do the same.

Really? 😬 We’re currently on the E.ON next drive tariff and haven’t had any communication about changes yet.
Hopefully it’s just a temporary pause while things settle.

If you’re already in a fixed tariff I can’t see how they can change anything.
I’m still in a fixed single rate tariff but it’ll be ending around the time our EV should arrive so every so often I have been checking what’s about but ATM it’s all gone tits up.
March 4, 2026 at 7:39 pm #340721When we signed up, they didn’t ask us to provide any proof that we had an EV. It was all done online without needing to upload anything.
Might be worth trying to sign up now incase it still allow switches.
March 4, 2026 at 9:00 pm #340722Just tried and having no problems getting a quote for Next Drive Smart v5.8 as long as the car or charger is suitable.
Maybe try again.

My Octopus Go ends 10th April 2026, Octopus will not let me update until near the renewal date ?
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Use below link below replacing “youraccountnumber” with your actual account number…

March 5, 2026 at 3:32 pm #340746@Oscarmax I notice Intelligent Go and Go are now only fixed for 6 months, have a £25 exit fee and increase in off peak rates 8p & 9.5p
They also have Intelligent Octopus Go – EV Saver, with no exit fees but not sure if fixed or variable?

That link works, they would not let me renew/update my Octopus Go yesterday on the phone, it certainly shot up, hopefully it will go down by the 10th April.
So what’s happened to all the Ofgem lower energy prices ?

March 5, 2026 at 4:21 pm #340753So what’s happened to all the Ofgem lower energy prices ?
As I said yesterday “so much for Ofgem price caps”
it seems energy providers will do whatever they can to offset Ofgems latest cuts during the current situation. Whats the betting Ofgem just stands back and does nothing?
March 5, 2026 at 4:27 pm #340754I would not mind but March 1st Octopus reduced outgoing export due the drop in electric prices. I am assuming Octopus new Go rate 33p/kWh will not reduce in April
Over the last 12 months I have imported 277 kWh peak rate at 26p/kWh at 33p/kWh it only a 7p/kWh increase of  £19.39
The PHEV uses approximately 1700 kWh 12 months 8.5p/kWh now 9.5p/kWh an extra £17.
19.39 + 17 = £36.39 plus the increase standing charge and a 10% increase in gas energy, so much for the energy saving
