BrydoThis gives an idea of how much you could be saving driving a Nissan Leaf.
Get on the phone to Motability and ask why you are not being allowed to enjoy these savings.

Craig188 miles wont be the actual milage you’ll get from a 5 and hours charge in winter. £5.60 sounds expensive if you need it charged every day, it could end up even as expensive as filling up with petrol or diesel.
What Car had a article highlighting that public charging is almost as expemsive as petrol or diesel.

BrydoCraig there is no doubt that public charging will be more expensive than home charging but 60% of the UK public will have access to a home charger if they so choose. Cheap home chgarging will change as the tax revenue from lower diesel and petrol sales start to reduce the inland revenues taxes. The Government will look at ways to recover this lost revenue stream and evs, and home charging in particular, will likely suffer as a result.
No matter when you Charge your car, whether in the winter or summer, the charging time will be the same, if it takes 5.7 hours to charge to full capacity in the summer it will take the same in the winter.
If you click on the link at the bottom of the article you will learn a lot more about ev`s.
October 24, 2018 at 11:07 am #63617I like the idea of cleaner driving, but i get easily confused with all the options (PHEV, hybrid, petrol hydrid) charging points, grants etc, is it worth a serious look at? what would be people’s advice br on all of this? positives? negatives?

Brydodj the link below will give you a better understanding of the various options, if you give me an idea of the type of journeys you make i could give you a better idea of what might be best for you.
Plug-in vehicle options
October 24, 2018 at 10:40 pm #63680@Brydo: Its hard to say really, not usually short, but not mile and miles. I have family 30 miles away and hospital appointments 10 miles away, my main worry would be the car running out of charge! i live in a 1st floor flat and my car is parked out front in a car park, i dont have my own drive. I would like to charge at home because of it being a cheaper option, but i dont know how it works,

BrydoDJ that limits you but I know there are grants available to local councils to install chargers in lampposts and other kerb side chargers. I would contact your local council, once motability put some on the scheme, and see what they say. There are a couple of BEVs that do 300 miles on a single charge that cost less than £30,000 that look very tempting, but of course we need motability to put them on the scheme. So if you are interested in an ev call them up and ask why there are none on the scheme.
October 25, 2018 at 4:56 pm #63720Brydo, I went to Mini today asked about the PHEV version of the Clubman and the Motability rep said because the grants had ended, the car is no longer on the scheme, she did say she would call in a weeks time to clarify for certain if it is on or not.
