Skoda Enyaq just had a 2 year service. We got a list of what they actually did.
They inspected tyres, brakes and suspension (Kwick Fit would have done this for free).
They changed the pollen filter, I did this on my own car myself every few years for around £12.
They also changed the brake fluid, I don’t remember changing the brake fluid on my last car in the 10 years I had it, I may have topped it up. I did do discs and pads. I certainly don’t think it needs changing on 16k miles.
This service would have cost £340 if it wasn’t included in the monthly lease cost.
Are manufacturers ripping off EV drivers with unnecessary service schedules?

Mobility pay a substantial lower trade rate
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
September 5, 2026 at 1:46 pm #378680There a guy on youtube (forget who) who was complaing at Enyak service coasts and the false pretence electric cars cost a fraction of the cost to service. After ring round various Skoda dealers within reach, he found costs altered substantially between dealers.
September 5, 2026 at 2:06 pm #378681Dealers pad up the pricing by vastly over charging for the pollen filter and changing brake fluid that isn’t needed, not at 16000 miles, all the 2yr service requires is to check it.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
September 5, 2026 at 2:37 pm #378683Don’t forget the screen wash.😁

They actually left us half a bottle of genuine VW screen wash in the car.
September 5, 2026 at 3:38 pm #378685I don’t think the car needs servicing till 30k or 3 years but obviously dealers are so used to the servicing cash cow they’re never going to give it up. Look at Tesla, they don’t even have a service schedule and still honour their warranty.
September 6, 2026 at 10:11 am #378696Brake fluid does need changing every 2 years after a quick google here’s why.
Why It Degrades
1..Water absorption: Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it pulls moisture from the air over time.
2..Lower boiling point: Water in the fluid lowers its boiling point, which can cause spongy brakes or brake failure under heavy use.
3..Corrosion: Moisture leads to rust and debris inside your braking system

I read that earlier, but how many can honestly say they change brake fluid every 2 years on their privately owned vehicle.

DOT 3 or 4 should have its brake fluid changed every 2 or 3 years or 30,000 – 45,000 miles, whichever comes sooner, with DOT 5.1 having a longer serice interval and DOT 5 (silicone based) is rarely used
A brake fluid tester pen can be had cheaply and its not difficult to change your own fluid if you have the equipment.
A tester pen is also useful to know if the dealer/mechanic has taken an educated guess and not changed the brake fluid, but charged for it!
September 6, 2026 at 1:10 pm #378706Had my Enyaq serviced a week ago. I’m always used to my car being cleaned but noticed in the small print that the dealer claims to plant a tree rather than clean the car these days.
Dealers must be making a fortune out of servicing electric cars these days.

if only there was a service to fix their software. But no, as per official Skoda UK response, it is permissible.Sent from a mobile device.

Motability VW Touran Family Pack May 2019September 6, 2026 at 3:11 pm #378710My forward sensors/ADAS aren’t available for the first 10-20mins of driving when it’s been heavy rain, light snow, too cold, too damp/foggy, leaves on train lines etc etc. Dealer has no interest in fixing it, no replies to any emails sent to Skoda UK so gave up trying to get it sorted.
When the car is working it’s OK, but after about 2yrs both front doors and centre console around display screen area began vibrating over bumps/poor roads etc, once again no interest at all from dealer they said it was probably the music too loud or the umbrella in the door pocket but it does it with no music playing and no umbrella. I’ve basically just given up mainly due the p@ss poor dealer experience.
I’m due to choose its replacement in mid October, while the 2027 SEL is still on my list it wouldn’t be my first choice if I can find something else at a reasonable price. So far the only real contender is the Toyota C-HR+ Design, it’s a bit tight getting in/out but manageable so a decent test drive is needed.

September 6, 2026 at 3:16 pm #378711You remind me my dad’s Saab 9.5. It was absolutely astonishing car. When / if it wasn’t in a garage.

You’ve been really unlucky with that. We got the 2024 September updated version and other than a failed window regulator we’ve not had a single issue. I think as models age the constant tweaks iron out the faults. I would certainly still look at the SE L but I’m not sure I’d go for the X version given the
pisspoor miles per KWH.September 6, 2026 at 5:06 pm #378713@Jojoe, by “failed window” you mean when you try to close it, especially on a motorway, it goes all the way down first?
That’s my “normal” too.

I think the problem was, we couldn’t put the back window up from the drivers side. A new regulator fixed the issue.
