Anyone else have problems with Ohme/Octopus charging last night?
Plugged in about 8pm, set to add 55% using IOG as usual.

Ohme App set the usual multiple charge slots but by 11:30pm I noticed they’d all passed with no charging. Checked it again at 00:00 and still no charging. Set the App to Max Charge and it said charging but at 0.0kWh ???

Went through the usual routines, unplugged/replugged car, switched charger off/on, switched mobile off/on and restarted a smart charge, said 7.45kWh for a couple of minutes then nothing.
Smart schedule had various slots up to 08:00, by 01:00 still no charging. Went and checked car settings, set to 100% instantly but also said something about 40% due to location? Never set a home location but found one in the settings so removed it.

Restarted everything again and still nothing. Gave up at this point and went to bed. Woke up this morning and it says added 19% and charged to 80%, makes no sense as car was at 40% originally and def set fo 100% and app to add 55%.

Not really had many issues with home charging over the last 2-1/2 years, usually cycling charger or an App update has sorted things.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Yes, I reported that a few weeks ago.

        Its the Octopus “Charge Cap”.

It wants to control your charging and no matter what percentage you want to charge to…it never makes it…if at all.

So, just to make sure, at 11.31 pm I use Max Charge, its the only guarantee its going to work.

I have not contested Octopus about this yet, but from their blurb about Charge Cap. If I choose max charge, i am billed at the daily rate, even though its in the magic window of 11.30- 5.30 am

If its the case aI am preparing to ditch Octopus.

Thanks, that’s interesting, my previous charges this month (2nd and 7th) both worked OK.

I have quite a bit of running about to do in the next couple of weeks with various doctors and hospital appointments, CT scans etc. so will see what happens next time I need to charge.

Just had a reply from the Admin on the Skoda EV Facebook group.

“Škoda have just announced that they’re tightening things up and only companies using the official API will work going forwards, that was yesterday. I know from previous meetings with the Škoda software team that octopus didn’t use an official route but that may have changed. Might be purely coincidence that they announced this yesterday, or it might not be.”

Edit.  One thing I also found was in the Octopus App.  Where the car is listed in “Devices” it was set to be ready for 8am and charge to 80%, I’m assuming this overrode the Ohme App and limited the charge.  I’ve now set that to 100% so we’ll see what happens next time.

Indeed. If it wasnt bad enough getting the car and Ohme to communicate with each other, now we have Octopus overriding Ohme on charging times..just adding another layer of failure.

I just use best judgment, IF I really really need the car to be charged to 100% the next day, use Max charge and manually charge it.

Had similar problems for last coupel of weeks and IOG cap hasn’t rolled out to my account yet. I have noticed though that now whenever I open the OME asks it asks me to verify the current level of charge on my Enyaq and it is aalways incorrect, often by 50% or more. To do with Schkoda not allowing OHME to communicate with the vehicle no doubt. If it carries on I may be looking at OVO cheap EV charging at any time. I lose the lower rate overnight for everything , not just car but being able to charge the car during the day when can more easily monitor what’s happening might be worth it.

                  @adrian_h

I am doing the same, looking at what Octopus is becoming and looking for alternatives.

My App doesn’t ask about the batteries SOC, I’m on Android if that makes any difference?

So far tonight it’s doing exactly what it did before.  Gave me the usual list of charging slots but so far it’s gone through 4 of them without doing any charging (see below).  If I turn on Max Charge it still shows “Max charging at 0.0kw” and switching back to Smart Charge just sets up a new list of charging slots.

Well it’s now 23:45 and it still hasn’t started charging 🙁

The last charge slot says 23:23 to 05:34 so I don’t hold out much hope of it charging tonight 🙁

Just checked the Octopus App and it also shows a schedule????  So am I not supposed to use the Ohme App then??  No idea to be honest!

I know when I changed to the new IOG Fixed 12m tariff it said to set up a device, but, my Ohme charger doesn’t show as an option, only the car.  It said to include the charger submit a request using a provided link to Octopus that would take 24hrs, did that well over a week ago and the charger still isn’t showing as an option to add to the devices.  This is getting very confusing to say the least.

                        @phaedra

When I first suggested the ohme app was not charging as desired despite working fine for 2 years.

Kezo reminded me to switch off the ohme charger at the small CU and leave it for 10 mins and then reset the trips back on.

Maybe try that tomorrow and see if it charges.

But to do a Max charge, you got to remember as well to go to the car app and enable charging on that.

Never mind ohme or octopus, its the car that decides whether to charge or not.

Maybe try a max charge tomorrow after the power off- power-on. Go into the car app and enable charging.

The Ohme charger was working very well for the past 2 years and its stopped charging in the past few weeks.

It started charging at 00:00 so the Octopus App looks like it’s now controlling the charging.

It’s at 92% now, Ohme App was set to add 55% but says added 37% and stopped charging. Octopus App says charging to 100% by 8am but the cars not charging.

Yup thats what happens to me. It never quite reaches your target.

                            Its often 10% short.

I’ve removed the car from Octopus devices and re-sent the request to Octopus to add my charger to the devices options.  Probably won’t work 🙁

Gave it a charge last night, car was at 71% so set the Ohme App to add 35%.

With it removed from the Octopus App Devices list it started on time using just the Ohme Smart Charge schedule.  This morning it said it had added 27% to get the car to 100%.  Car verified it was charged to 100% so it worked as it should.  Hopefully for now (until Octopus bring in the new Charge Cap) it should at least charge to 100%.

Had an email from Octopus today,

                                  “Hello,

I have now added the option to your account so that when you add your devices, it will give you the option to connect via your charger. Please go ahead and set up the devices on your Octopus app using this new option.

First, add your EV, then add the charger details, after that it will give you the option to integrate via the charger or the car!”

Not going to to try it at the moment as it’s raining again!, will see if it dries up later!
