Enyaq 12v battery warning, any advice

Hi all, I’m still getting used to my new Enyaq.
Coming home from North Wales today, I dropped below 20% EV battery and the battery symbol changed to yellow. At the same time a 12v battery symbol beneath also showed. I continued home and still had 15% EV left, both symbols still yellow.

I’m confused, what is run off the 12v battery? I was on a 100 mile run so surely the 12v should be charged. How does it charge? Does it have an alternator as an ICE engine?

On a good note, I got 4.5 ml/Kw, so very pleased, that was with air con belting out as well.

      Any advice appreciated.

      Regards, wonky

You would assume the big battery will charge your 12V, but that’s not the case. I believe mine was replaced at least twice since new.

The main battery, from what I was told, does keep the 12v topped up.  However, the 12v batteries that the VAG fit (like other manufacturers nowadays) are, putting it nicely, “not a premium product”.  From what I’ve read those that have had batteries replaced from non-VAg sources like the RAC etc haven’t had further issues.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

dont worry. the yellow light which shows what looks like a 12v battery warning is not that- its the continuous reminder when below 20% that you will need to charge. Its a little unnerving when you see it as you cant turn it off but it will disappear once you charge the car again.

should also say that the known 12v battery issue ( I was affected) should now be a thing of the past unless the 12v battery was damaged before recent software updates. I believe they have tweaked the software so that finally the 12v battery will receive charge from the bug high voltage one to keep it topped up when youre not using the car. They named it “enhanced stability charging” in the release notes for 4.1 cars.

Hi all, thanks for advice so far. If I seem to have 12v issues I’ll call RAC as Phaedra did.

Falcon1, I’ve got it on charge now, so I’ll check if it goes out. I may need an eye test as it really looks like a battery motif.

no need for an eye test as it is a battery icon- its a shame that they couldn’t use a different battery picture to the one we all have been use to in every car since the invention of warning lights. even if the light was text that said “charge soon”, that would be more helpful.
