      Morning everyone!

Got my Peugeot E-3008 in October 2024

everthing was fine with the car until 3rd March 2026 – car had an ECU and door sensor issue

Garage and Motability have been pretty useless really – garage given no date as to when parts will arrive. I was finally told late May that the parts have arrived and just waiting for the parts to be fitted so expect the car back mid jun

end of June came and I still didn’t get car back

called them In early july to to be told another problem with the screen has occurred and it will be 3 weeks

it has now been 6 months and still no car with any update

i requested with Motability to cancel the lease – person I spoke with on the phone said he needed to send an email to the team who deal with cancelling contracts and they will contact me

is this true and how long do I need to wait for them to contact me?

I’ve cancelled 2 cars mid contract over the phone with no issues at all. Unless things have changed, there were no emails going back and forth. Both cars were cancelled with one phonecall each.

I would ring again, just incase you were being fobbed off, stating its been 6 months and the dealership still can’t fix it after finding another fault and that you want to cancel on mechanical grounds, as you have lost all faith in the car and won’t feel safe driving it if and when you get it back.

As stated above, I also cancelled with one phone call. No quibbling or debate, they were very good about it although it was several years ago before they changed for the worse.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

              Just spoke to Motability

they won’t cancel it until they investigate with the dealer

even after saying I have lost faith in the vehicle and under mechanicals grounds

Whilst Motability are generally very good about these things, it is sometimes worth being quite assertive in these situations.

I had a recurring issue with a VW once and they tried to palm me off, but I said that the dealer had already had long enough but had failed to resolve it and I wasn’t prepared to continue to be paying what is now £320 every 4 weeks for a car that I didn’t feel safe in. They then agreed to a no fault termination but the dealer then resolved it so I didn’t take them up on it.

Did they give you a timescale of when such an investigation will start or be completed or do you feel you were being  fobbed off?

You could put a complaint in, but thats likely to be long winded or the possibility of going to CEO fr a quick resolution by the right department. However, @Glos-Guy has valid point about being firm and assertive, even over the phone or in writing.

I asked the question, but they just said there is backlog.

im going to give them another call on Monday to see if I get someone else who will actually help

They kept giving me petrol cars

i kept asking for an EV as it was costing me nearly £40 a week in petrol but said we can’t swap because you already have a hire car

Run it past the CEO’s department, explain when you first contacted Motability, what you have been told and what the dealership have said re another fault. Be assertive, that you have lost all faith and the cost to run a petrol car as explained and don’t forget to add your private details. It will be sprted alot quicker  andrewmiller@motabilityoperations.co.uk

For two many terminations you can be suspended from motability from 12 months to two years and with two many insurance claims up to seven years even if not no fault of yours. Lucky I have not had to claim since driving in 1976 shows how old I am. Also there can be some big unfairness as with the insurance track which may still come for under 30s or others in future lets hope not.
