Just had a look at the term and conditions, contract after the 1st October 2025.
2.1 You will be provided with a copy of these terms and if applicable either the Drive Smart Telematics & App terms and conditions or Drive Smart Black Box terms and conditions.
3.3.3 Drivers under the age 30.
(a) New to the scheme.
(b) Drivers with multiple own damage incidents. (that’s seems reasonable)
(c) Drivers who use their roadside recovery services in excessive, (if you get a duff car either push it home or preferably to the dealership)
(d) Or Drivers who have had multiple (8 or more) tyre replacements are required to Telematic Device installed. (looks like you will have to avoid the potholes and buy your own tyres)
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

The latest video from Motability. They claim it doesn’t track people at all, yet I’ve seen many posts that people have been tracked when not even in their cars.

The examples of the errors are very worrying if true. 100mph for 30 minutes, on a train. Several accounts of red marks from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, on the rollercoaster and, of course, going through Tesco.
A pathetically brief video answering 2 questions whilst claiming to have listened to customers’ concerns.

They really went all out with their in-depth explanation.
They really think people are stupid.

Haha no doubt.
I just seen a post of someone’s screenshot from the app and it has them driving through houses 🤦
April 22, 2026 at 7:30 pm #353951My son is under 30, on the scheme, has no points on his licence and never had a claim. He’s said there’s no way he is going to have a black box fitted and will leave the scheme as soon as his lease is up. He’s very tempted by the deal Tesla are offering and it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes for an early termination.
What Miller is doing is suicide. With the number of people that will leave the scheme, there is no way he will be able to justify his inflated salary and benefits.
April 22, 2026 at 7:51 pm #353954The app developer Trak Global Solutions Holdings (Canada) Inc. also trading as IMS.
You can see the data collected and the data shared here:

April 22, 2026 at 7:56 pm #353955DriveSmart is based on IMS The wedge and one app.
The T&C’s are basically the same except IMS keep data for 1 year for the Wedge system and Motability 7 years!

Data can’t be deleted
The developer doesn’t provide a way for you to request that your data be deletedMmmmm

My thoughts exactly.
Are they going to dictate what you can and can’t have on your own personal phone.
April 23, 2026 at 3:29 pm #353986What happens if you haven’t got a smartphone?

Apparently they can fit a black box instead

April 27, 2026 at 1:16 am #354151Is this a shift on Motability and Drive Smart?
I cant seem to remember this part at the end, where it states new members only have drive smart for the 1st lease and its not required after that?
—————–
Who gets Drive Smart?
Drive Smart is only included in your lease if:You are leasing your first car or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAVWheelchair Accessible Vehicle) on the Motability Scheme
You or any of your drivers on the lease are under 30 years old
If you’re an existing customer and all the drivers on your lease are over 30, you will not get Drive Smart, unless you’ve had multiple insurance claims. Even when you order your next vehicle. If you have Drive Smart because you are new to the Motability Scheme, this will only apply to your first full lease.
————-
Maybe DLM have told motability about the surge in NCB requests?

How do you go about requesting the NCB?
I don’t remember reading that either.
April 27, 2026 at 9:05 am #354153You have to log on to the Motability site with your account.
Go to insurance tab and this logs you on to your DLM account and Select Cover Documents. Then click “Request Claims Letter”.
But only use it when you are leaving or about to leave. The NCB is limited to 28 days and DLM only allow one quote per lease or something like that.

What about if you want to be added onto someone else’s insurance and you need to see when you made a claim, if you have made one?
Seems a bit restrictive to only allow one request for claims history, to me.

Thanks for that and I also suspect this has been recently added
I do wonder now that this has come to light just how many people may have jumped ship because of the poor info around Drive Smart and may now regret doing so
The bit THAT STICKS OUT to me is where it says
Even when you order your new vehicle
It looks like it has been added in front of a previous full stop Using capital rather than on its own line imo
Looks rushed and an add-on imo

April 27, 2026 at 11:38 am #354164I might be reading into it too much, but this maybe suggests the wedge won’t be forced on to everyone over 30 that isn’t new to the scheme but will be for people who make a lot of claims.

I imagine those who request dispensation on the mileage limit will be subject to the app as well

That’s a possibility and I wouldn’t be surprised.
