I do seem to be drawn to cars that are a bit different, in a good way IMO, cars like the BMW i3.

      and the Kia Soul.

What favourites do you have, or am i alone in this lol.

The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.

Those 2 examples are just ugly cars to me. I think quirky is more Toyota CHR or Honda Civic.

            You want quirky..?

            I’ll give you quirky…

Pictured is a Tatra T77 from the 1930s. Fins, slats and other sci-fi bits at the back cover an air-cooled V8. Now, THAT is quirky!

I don’t like to stand out in a crowd so prefer VW cars, plain outside and in but they get the job done.

It’s something I hear motoring journalist say all the time “it plain and boring” and that pricks up my ears as I know I will be happy with it. ?

Cheers, Brydo. The Czech Tatra’s designs are just in equal parts beautiful, balanced shapes and eccentric engineering that I thought folks would like to see one. Shame they died out as car makers (still make trucks). No secret that a Tatra design inspired Dr Porsche’s Beetle; the early “teardrop” Saab’s are closely related too. You’ll know that I am an admirer of Citroen’s original DS; Tatra is the only other maker who came close to adding elegance to panache in a popular motor car. The firm still rolls out some concept designs, apparently just for fun, none ever get made, I think. Just Google “Tatra concept cars” then sit back and enjoy.

                      Allegedly capable of 82mph. Worrying!

Of course, if your chemist was in Russia, you might have seen one of these outside…

An SMZ S3A “invalid car” made in 1958 USSR. Made exclusively for use by disabled people. Great attention to detail: versions for single- and dual-handed control. Was originally a three-wheeler, like the Invacar, but it was wisely decided that four wheels were needed to cope with Russian weather. Even so, they made it a convertible! Power from a 346cc two-stroke single giving 8bhp. Top speed 25mph. Wonder if they raced them like the Invacars did?

Hmmm. Initial reaction is “wrong on many, if not all, levels”. Rolls Royces should not be great lairy, flashy, footballers’ tractors. Leave that to Bentley (and even that’s wrong). But, there again, Rolls does have a history of tough, off-road and, dare I say it, fighting vehicles. Look at the RR desert cars used in Arabia during WW1.

Now, if they offered one of the new design with a gun turret, that could be well useful on the M25!

I like the old American cars with the big fins on them.

Not a fan of the newer odd shapes that are coming out now, we’ve had to move with the times now, but honestly if I had my way I’d still be driving around in my escort MK3 rs turbo ! Absolutely loved that car.

@ajn yep me too, I hates when cars started getting bubbly as things moved on in the way of car shapes, It took a lot of getting used too, even now I’d prefer the old boxy shaped cars still

When I met my father in law , he was car mad, he had a Mondeo st200 he built and put one of those wale tails on the back, it was a proper 90s throwback , which was great but he made me 56 year old mother in law drive around in it , she felt ridiculous cause it had a straight through exhaust system too! I was just like oh dear!!
