My sister in-laws car was due a service and MOT and the susuki dealer she uses who normally collect and deliver the car back to her have decided to start charging £15 for this. She phoned motability and complained and they said it was up to each dealer to decide whether they charge or not but as a good will gesture they will send her a cheque for the £15…….thoughts?

I was once asked to pay £10 pick up and return for a Volvo recall…

I declined the demand as it’s not my car or rules, ended up with a courtesy car…

As I was waiting on a hospital date..

Our dealer has started charging for courtesy cars, Motability paid for taxis instead.

As far as I’m aware there’s nothing in the Motability contracts on either side that stipulates collection/delivery or courtesy cars should be provided at all let alone for free.

In a shrinking global economy I think we all have to reign in our expectations.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

When my Skoda’s MOT was due last year, I asked for collection and return they point blank refused collection and return, saying is was due to covid. They did say I could have a loan car but, would have to pay £25 disinfectant charge. I just booked it into my local Qwikfit. Unfortunately you have little option, but take it in yourself if your car is due for a service.

Sometimes the dealer/supplier offer a courtesy car, or free pick up, also seems some can choose to charge..

my car has been in for one software update/recall expected charge for that, I refused, but came to an agreement they would supply a courtesy car if I waited (advised not to use public transport due to circumstances)..

Some other thing to do with not starting or any power to start, courtesy car provided by Volvo, probably under warrantee

Pick up return for the 12month service, free of charge, I declined a courtesy due a long waiting list…

                  All the same dealer..
