My wife enjoyed a test drive of a Quantum Outback power chair which is four wheel drive. It coped well with both the ascent and descent of a steep grassy hill and was comfortable on off road surfaces.

It is available on the Motability scheme. But if buying outright it is rather expensive at  about £11000 to £15500 depending on specification.

Does anyone know any places where a similar four wheel drive power chair can be hired for the day at a scenic location to take advantage of its off road capabilities?

Many years ago my wife had a Permobil, but it is rear-wheel drive. Having said that, it was pretty capable.

I don’t know where you can hire it, I’m sorry, maybe send an email in and ask for a week’s demo?

        Best of luck.

Mrs Joe regularly hires them in the Southwest. Countryside Mobility have them at dozens of tourist attractions around Devon and Cornwall, her favourite is Bottalack not far from Lands End, you can go along the cliff top and enjoy views of the sea and tin mines. She hired one at Lulworth Cove, you could get really high up for a good view.

I’d forgotten that Tramper’s are at various sites @Jojoe. I have the TWS and it is most excellent, been to the top of all the hills in the area whilst walking the dog. Happy days.
